WikiLeaks’ Fashion File, ScarJo And Ryan Split, Keeping Bankers’ Hours (And Tie Knots), And More…

WikiLeaks’ Fashion File, ScarJo And Ryan Split, Keeping Bankers’ Hours (And Tie Knots), And More…: "

WikiLeaks: the new fashion journalism? Among the revelations included in the thousands of pages of classified U.S. foreign policy documents—all full of less-than-favorable judgments on foreign leaders and attachés—recently released by the upstart organization, Vogue Italia plucked out a bit of sartorial snark: “Lady Mehriban Aliyeva”—the wife of Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan—”appears to have had substantial cosmetic surgery, presumably overseas, and wears dresses that would be considered provocative even in the Western world. On television, in photos, and in person, she appears unable to show a full range of facial expression.” [Vogue Italia]

Speaking of biting criticisms, UBS bankers were subjected to a few, too. The Wall Street Journal reports on a 43-page memo being sent to staff at five Swiss offices, which includes guidelines for appropriate dressing and general comportment (no eating onions or garlic!) for staffers. Among them? Be sure to match your tie knot to your face and/or body shape, please. [WSJ via Racked]

From the celebrity front: After less than two years, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are calling it quits and divorcing. At least they’ve put out one of the more truthful and witty statements about it we’ve seen in a while: “While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.” Realists to the end, those two. [Vogue U.K.]

And Women checks in with model Bruna Tenorio, who shares her favorite photo of herself (an early black-and-white shot by Mario Sorrenti), favorite cities (Rio, Paris, and New York), and her favorite drink (”the full cream milk at Starbucks”—we’re not sure what that means, but we like the sound of it).
