There was a lot for showgoers to focus on before Givenchy's fall 2015 collection even hit the runway, between the star-studded front row — which included the likes of Jessica Chastain, Katy Perry, Amanda Seyfried, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West — and a scrappy-looking set, littered with old-school arcade games like Pac-Man, defunct computers and skateboards with small ramps. Once the first model did come out, it was apparent that the beauty look — specifically, the oversized faux facial piercings — would really be the scene stealer this season.

Creative Director Riccardo Tisci cited "Victorian Cholas" as his inspiration for fall, allowing him to mix his signature gothic aesthetic with elements of Latin street culture that he's long admired. The latter came through in the beauty look, with kiss curls made from baby hair slicked onto the forehead — a style that's generally associated with certain Latina subcultures. In addition, Tisci covered models' faces with glued-on jewels (some of which looked like tattoos from afar), complete with large nose rings on each nostril that make the door-knocker septum rings he showed at his spring 2012 couture show and fall 2012 menswear show look tame.

Despite the hard-edged beauty and urban influences, the collection still had plenty of dark romance. There were rich coats and velvet dresses with Victorian prints (some embroidered with a Catholic cross in the center), dramatic peplum coats, flowy dresses with sheer inserts or medieval corsets to show off the body, and a final series of finely beaded gowns and jackets that had couture appeal. It's no secret that Tisci has lots of fans in high places — we're betting it won't be long before Perry steps out wearing one or two of the face jewels  — but in terms of pure aesthetic, this collection has FKA Twigs written all over it.
