It seems like only yesterday that Rihanna blew our minds by wearing a glittering, completely transparent Swarovski crystal embellished dress to collect her Fashion Icon award at the CFDA Awards last June. On Wednesday, the council named her successor: Pharrell Williams, 41.

An abbreviated history of Pharrell's style accomplishments: wearing the shit out of a bellhop outfit for a Chanel video (and again at the Grammys), his work with Adidas, guyliner and, most crucially, that hat.

The multi-talented artist is the second male to win the award (the first being Johnny Depp, who took it home back in 2012), and as far as dudes go, they don't get much more stylish than this. CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg says in the CFDA's announcement: "If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell."

True enough. But can he top Rihanna's Swarovski dress? That remains to be seen.
