In what is surely one of the industry's biggest scheduling conflicts ever, this year's Met Gala in New York is set to take place on May 4, the same day as Chanel's cruise 2015 show in Seoul. Typically, each event would draw many of the same industry figures, who this year have a difficult choice to make. An official list of hosts, sent to us by a trustworthy source and authenticated by a Vogue, indicates who chose the Met Gala.

A list of over 100 VIPs, from designers like Tory Burch and Oscar de la Renta's Peter Copping, to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, is printed on the event's official invitation, adding to the event's draw and enticing New Yorkers with deep pockets to buy tickets (which reportedly cost upwards of $25,000) to the Costume Institute fundraiser. One name that surprised us: Karl Lagerfeld. Because shouldn't he be at his own runway show? Cara Delevingne, who has closed many of Chanel's shows in recent seasons, is also on the list.

It makes sense that Chanel would want to have a presence at the Met Gala given its relationship to both the museum and host Anna Wintour — not to mention all the press attention the event gets. Of course it's possible that Lagerfeld will only be a host in name, and not actually present at the event. A Chanel spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Read on for all the VIPs listed, as well as a scan of the list itself. (Note: It does not include the event's previously announced official chairs: Silas Chou, Jennifer Lawrence, Gong Li, Marissa Mayer, Wendi Murdoch and Anna Wintour.) The event precludes the opening of a new Costume Institute exhibit, “China: Through the Looking Glass.”
