Why You Should Stick With Black and Navy This Spring

To quote Miranda Priestly, "Florals for spring? Groundbreaking."

Indeed, flowers (and their colors) serve as inspiration for most brands when it comes to their spring/summer collections, which results in a lot of sameness on the streets and on the red carpet. And while it's always fun to break out the pastels at first, those colors and patterns get old fast. Already, seeing ladies like Gwyneth Paltrow, Dakota Fanning, Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olsen in black and navy dresses this week makes those dark colors seem much more appealing for spring.

It's a little rebellious and cool, but still practical. Paired with strappy sandals, a minimalist, sleeveless black or navy dress will keep you just as cool as a pink and yellow floral one (you still looked great in that Lilly Pulitzer x Target though, Kate Bosworth). Plus, you can still wear it during fall and winter. Win-win.
