Gigi Hadid (Finally) Gets To Walk The Victoria's Secret Show

Gigi Hadid (Finally) Gets To Walk The Victoria's Secret Show - Refinery29:

Following the departures of seasoned Angels Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss earlier this year, we began to wonder who would fill their teetering, hard-to-walk-in shoes to hit the glitter-packed runway at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Now we know: Gigi Hadid will walk the lingerie giant's show for the very first time next month.

Victoria's Secret shared the announcement yesterday evening, with a clip from Hadid's casting audition (because, no matter how many stamps you have on your passport after Fashion Month, everyone has to audition). In it, Hadid gives her most smiley strut, punctuating her walk with an obligatory kiss to the audience. Ed Razek, the executive producer of the show, then asks her, "What are you doing on November 9 and 10?" (when the spectacle will be filmed), to which Hadid replies with a nervous, giggly "I don't know." Once the formal invitation is offered, Hadid can't contain her excitement.

Hadid has worked with the brand's PINK line in the past, but this marks her big VS Fashion Show debut. And it seems this has been a longtime ambition of hers: Gigi shared a screengrab from the casting clip on Instagram, thanking Razek and Victoria's Secret for the opportunity to achieve a lifelong goal. "Anyone that grew up with me knows that getting this show has been a dream of mine forever!" she wrote.
Hadid's loved ones — including her sister, Bella, her mom, Yolanda Foster, and her boyfriend, Joe Jonas — also took to social media to congratulate the newly minted Victoria's Secret model. We were pretty excited about the musical lineup already (Selena Gomez! Rihanna! The Weeknd!); Hadid on the show's costume-y catwalk is yet another reason to tune in to the annual spectacle. The show will air December 8 on CBS.

Adriana Lima still one of the hottest women around

Adriana Lima still one of the hottest women around - FansShare:

The modelling industry is a very interesting place, with a lot of models getting less and less work as they begin to age, instead being replaced by the younger, fresh-faced models coming through on the modelling scene. It feels like models are getting younger and younger every year but, while some of the older models are beginning to fade away, there are those who are just getting better with age.

Brazilian model Adriana Lima is one of the world's top models, landing some of the biggest and best modelling gigs that industry has to offer, during the course of her long and successful modelling career. Adriana has been in the modelling industry for many years now and, while being 34 years old is far from being old, it is also far from being young in the modelling game.
With that said though, there is no denying that Adriana Lima is still one of the hottest women on the face of the Earth and she seems to look even more stunning with every year. Adriana is one of those models who loves to share pictures with her fans and followers on social media. Whether she is posting a new modelling picture or an image of herself in the gym, Lima always looks incredible.
Adriana Lima is one of the longest-serving Victoria's Secret Angels of all time, having joined the elite models club way back in 2000. While a number of new, younger models have been added to the Angels list, Adriana is still going strong and we hope to see her continuing to do so for many more years to come.

5 Seconds of Summer's Musical DNA: A Primer on Their Rock, Punk Favorites

5 Seconds of Summer's Musical DNA: A Primer on Their Rock, Punk Favorites:

Last week, 5 Seconds of Summer released their sophomore album, Sounds Good Feels Good, a rollicking, radio-friendly set that leans heavily toward the pop-punk of some of the album's collaborators, such as Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden, and Sum 41's Deryck Whibley. In honor of the album's release, singer-guitarist Luke Hemmings and singer-bassist Calum Hood told Rolling Stone about the current favorites and longtime influences that make up their diverse and fun musical DNA.

All Time Low
Calum Hood:
I have a lot of respect for this band because when I was about 15 or 16, I really admired Alex's songwriting. I always tried to write a song like "Jasey Rae" or "Stay Awake." Those were the two songs I always tried to replicate in any way. But now I really think they're trying to evolve with rock music and pop music, which is really cool to see. Obviously, it's working out because they're playing arenas and getting a lot more airtime, which is really good to see.

Luke Hemmings: I used to watch the Straight to DVD DVD at Michael [Clifford, 5SOS guitarist]'s house all the time. They're a huge influence on a young band like us, touring a lot, writing great music and having a great live show.

The Used
Hood:
They're my favorite band. I just really love the angst and the guitar lines and the rhythm section, especially because I'm a bassist. I'm really looking for bass lines and how the bassist and drummer work off each other. In that band, I really respect the musicianship between the drummer and the bassist, even though the original drummer left. You can kind of tell of the differences. The two albums that I'd recommend would be In Love and Death and Artwork. They're my two favorite Used albums.

Yellowcard
Hemmings:
I've been into Yellowcard for a while. They've put out a lot of great albums. I saw them at Warped Tour, which I had never been to. We don't have Warped Tour in Australia. Their live show was great. Some of their songs I don't know, but even if you don't know some of their songs, they're still really cool to see. I fell in love with them after that.

State Champs
Hood:
We went on tour with them in Australia. Those guys are totally open-minded about not being pigeonholed. They're mature enough to say, "We can gain a lot of fans out of this tour [with 5SOS]." So they came on tour with us. They're great people, great musicians and great songwriters. They're definitely ones to watch, for sure. I love "Deadly Conversation" and their new single, "Secrets."

Good CharlotteHemmings: They're the first band that I saw live in concert. I was 13, and when I saw them up on stage, I knew that's what I wanted to do when I grew up. I used to play their self-titled album on my Discman going to school. They've got an angst and the raw emotion there; there's a real story that they're telling.

INXSHemmings: Being an Australian band, they're really important to me. Seeing a band go from the middle of nowhere in Perth, Australia, to playing stadiums around the world is pretty incredible. They kind of invented a new song, really. They were way ahead of their time. When I listen to them now, I'm still amazed that they could sound the way they did. Michael Hutchence is an incredible frontman and a huge influence on me. I really love "Mystify" and "New Sensation."

SugarcultHood: I really love the melodies and the guitar lines. Some of our stuff is really similar. I really like them. People should definitely check them out. I love their songs "Los Angeles" and "Memory."

Green Day
Hemmings:
Like Good Charlotte, Green Day had a huge influence on me. Just the way they play live and the energy they bring to a show is incredible. They can really command a whole stadium. After American Idiot came out, I went back and looked at the other ones; I was pretty young at that point. But with American Idiot, the way they made that huge statement was pretty badass. I still love that band. As a band, Green Day is probably [5 Seconds of Summer's] favorite. The band's favorite band.

Mayday ParadeHood: Their second to last album, Monsters in the Closet, was one of my favorite albums they've ever done. It's kind of the same thing with All Time Low; they really are one of the bands we bonded over. They have a special place in our hearts. I remember Michael teaching me how to play "Three Cheers for Five Years" in his bathroom. There's definitely some good memories that are attached to that band. One of my favorite songs is called "12 Through 15." I really love the bridge and the bass line. They're fucking amazing.

Joe Nichols Hints at Album of Folk Songs

Joe Nichols Hints at Album of Folk Songs:

Joe Nichols may be a country traditionalist with a modern flair, but more often than not, he's listening to folk music in his truck. And the "Freaks Like Me" singer says he may be rerecording a few of those classic folk tunes for a future album.

"I never really grew up on [folk music], but I like the writing of it," he tells Rolling Stone Country. "Hopefully one of these days, for some of those songs, we can make them a little country and put out a record of that stuff."

Nichols cites the folkier songwriting of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and the Band as being particularly inspiring.

"I think as country has evolved, the storytelling has gone away a little bit," Nichols says. "It's become more of a production, and more of a 'let's be loud and have a party' kind of thing. Storytelling attracts me. That's where the most value for your buck is for me."

But before any folk-inspired album happens, Nichols is gearing up for a new LP of original material in the first quarter of 2016. In September, he released "Freaks Like Me," the lead single to his ninth studio album and says the project will be similar to that song.

Says Nichols: "It's got a lot of high tempo stuff, but it's my country bumpkin butt singing on it, so it won't sound much different than 'Freaks Like Me.'"

Keith Urban on Working With Nile Rodgers, Letting the Songs Lead

Keith Urban on Working With Nile Rodgers, Letting the Songs Lead:

Keith Urban's next album may very well have dueling guitars. . .or at least dueling guitar heroes. For over a year, Keith Urban was on a mission to work with one his six-string heroes, Nile Rodgers. Earlier this year, his wish was granted.

"We finally got together a few months ago and started writing in the studio," the Fuse singer tells Rolling Stone Country, adding that the unlikely duo is still hammering out new material for Urban's next album. "I've always just liked his guitar playing and it felt like we would click musically."

Rodgers is largely hailed as one of the greatest guitarists of his time, with a resume that includes collaborations with Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Diana Ross, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Daft Punk and David Bowie, among many others. In 1976, he co-founded Chic, one of the most successful groups of the disco era.

Now you can add a country album to Rodgers' list of projects. The timing of his Urban collaboration, though purely coincidental, arrives not long after music reviewers deemed Urban's 2013 album Fuse to be lighter on electric guitar than previous albums.

"It's funny because I didn't think the guitar took a back seat on the last album until everyone started sort of pointing it out," admits Urban. "Everything has guitar solos [on Fuse], so I didn't think that it was any less than any other record, so it's funny how people perceived things."

Asked if he took those perceptions positively or negatively, he says, "Probably neither; just a bit more surprisingly."

Urban and Rodgers have already hit the stage together, sharing a short set during Rodgers' FOLD Festival in August. Backed by the current members of Chic, the two stretched Urban's 2002 hit "Somebody Like You" to 15 minutes in length, trading bluesy solos throughout, and added some guitar-heavy muscle to "Long Hot Summer." Urban says the pair's work in the recording studio will be similarly fleet-fingered, although he'll continue letting the song — rather than the guitar parts — come first.

"I love that people want to hear the guitar," he explains, "but I just think about the song. It's like saying I have to put fiddling on because it's a country record. Whatever the song seems to want, you know."
