It's no secret that the street style "formula" has become a little stale: Pile on the latest Céline separates, Prada accessories and a handbag that's notorious for its waiting lists and voilà! You're bound to get your picture taken at least once. However, during the spring 2016 shows, a staggering amount of street style hopefuls took their peacocking to the next level by attaching themselves to their equally chic, gorgeous pals — literally.

Boasting a handful of cool best friends (or, you know, a #squad) is certainly au courant, thanks in part to a woman named Taylor Swift and her fondness for inviting beautiful ladies into her inner circle by the dozen. While Swift is powerful and popular on her own, she's somehow more fascinating — and more photogenic — when she's surrounded by a girl gang that includes the likes of Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt, Lily Aldridge and Gigi Hadid. So, it makes sense that the street style set would follow suit, and while only a few show-goers went so far as to coordinate outfits with their Fashion Month buddies, many decided that displaying their friendships by holding hands would increase their chances of getting noticed. Two cute ensembles are better than one, right?

The most ubiquitous hand-holding women at the shows were "It" girl Caroline Vreeland (great granddaughter of Diana) and her bestie Shea Marie, the stylist and blogger behind Peace Love Shea. These two were attached to each other from New York to Paris, and considering how many images we've seen of the pair, we'd say their tactic worked. Plenty of other friend groups got in on the action, as did actual sisters (like Aimee and Dani Song) and a whole mess of models. For instance, Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner were spotted walking hand-in-hand after the Chanel show on Tuesday, and two of the season's breakout stars, Stella Maxwell and Bella Hadid, got pretty chummy in front of the cameras all month.

Of course, no handbag or pair of shoes can come close in emotional value to a loyal girlfriend, and the latter is way more difficult to find. But using your bestie as an accessory for street style fame? It may be mutually beneficial, but it feels a little icky, and if we're being honest, we hope this "trend" passes with the season. Take a look at some "squad goals" snaps from Fashion Month below, and share your stance on this phenomenon in the comments.
