To say we, the people of the media, are excited for the Oct. 23 release of Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan's "Suffragette" would be the understatement of the season. Let's just go over the basics here: Not only is the film about the kick-ass lady soldiers of the early feminist movement, but it begets yet another a surefire Supporting Actress nod for Streep, as well as considerable buzz for Mulligan, the movie's lead. But, enough of that Hollywood stuff (for now) — all of this also means that we have a Very Important Press Tour situation on our hands.

To jumpstart the circuit's festivities, Mulligan, Streep & Co. hit the red carpet for a BFI London Film Festival screening of "Suffragette" on Wednesday evening. For the occasion, Mulligan deviated from her tried-and-true unfussy wardrobe for a much more frou-frou knee-length dress from Chanel's fall 2015 Couture collection. This range may have been casino-themed, but the garment in question still served up some minor, yet palpable "Amadeus" vibes with its oversized, ruffly sleeves and ornate, classical embellishments — much like the entirety of Chanel's Métiers d'Art Paris-Salzburg line. As it turns out, the busyness associated with this type of styling works particularly well for a brand-new mother; Mulligan gave birth to her first child with husband, Marcus Mumford, not too long ago.

We would be remiss, of course, if we didn't point out Mulligan's expertly glossed and curled hair, which appears to have reached Peak Lob. Prepare for this very image to dominate your Pinterest homepage for a while.
