When Uniqlo announced its collaboration with Carine Roitfeld this past spring, we didn't know exactly what to expect, considering that the Japanese retailer generally prefers staple styles over trends. But judging from Uniqlo's knack for tapping collaborators who are well-regarded in the fashion industry (among them Jil Sander, Inès de la Fressange and Christophe Lemaire), we guessed the pieces would offer a somewhat minimalist take on the French editor's signature ensemble of dark, form-fitting silhouettes with some budget-friendly price points. And that's exactly the collection Uniqlo and Roitfeld delivered, which is now on sale at Uniqlo stores and on Uniqlo.com.

Roitfeld worked with Uniqlo Design Director Naoki Takizawa to create a collection that combines polished outerwear with feminine separates, including  a chester wool coat in grey or black ($199.90), a silk-and-lace camisole ($49.90), a fitted skirt that hits just below the knee ($49.90), as well as opaque, sheer, fishnet and lattice-patterned tights ($12.90). The collection certainly has the same French-chic vibe that made us — and street style photographers every fashion month — admire Roitfeld's style in the first place.

According to the Uniqlo website, what's running low in stock at the moment are the silk-and-lace camisoles and the eyelet and wide belts ($29.90). The body sweater ($59.90), a long-sleeve sweater bodysuit made from merino wool, is already sold out. Browse a few of our favorite pieces below.
