Rihanna's had some buzz-worthy music videos before, but her new vid for "S&M" might be her most talked-about yet. The kinky video, directed by Melina Matsoukas, definitely makes a statement -- as do the latex outfits she wears during the 4-minute piece.

The video is most obviously aimed partly at the media -- members of the "press" are bound and gagged while RiRi is pinned up against the wall behind plastic wrap during a press conference (which she was dragged to).

Her dress looks like it's made of newspaper, with words like "slut" and "Daddy issues" written in bold. And, of course, throughout the video she's poking fun at her sexed-up image.

In one scene, she walks out of a house with Perez Hilton crawling on front of her on a leash. He rolls around on the lawn in his pink outfit, smiling while on all-fours. Later in the video Rihanna wears a baby pink latex outfit with a matching hood and thigh-high boots while she carries around a whip and wraps duct tape over her the mouths of the people taped to the wall.

She sings: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me."

Talbots keeps trying to shed its frumpy image, now by enlisting Julianne Moore as the star of its Spring/Summer ad campaign. She was photographed in a greenhouse by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and the advertisements will be debuted in March fashion mags.

Moore replaces Linda Evangelista, who had a brief stint with the label. Talbots' chief creative officer Michael Smaldone told People.com that Moore 'exemplifies everything we want as the face of the brand. She's a very active, beautiful, soulful woman.' Add 'unrecognizable' to the list -- we probably wouldn't have know it was her...would you?

'I truly, genuinely like clothes. Making them is an art form, and wearing them is a form of self-expression. I find it very emotional because I can remember moments in my life--my mood, how I felt--through these clothes.'

Her biggest purchase:

'The biggest fashion purchase I ever made I thought about for six years. I'm not kidding. All my life I wanted to own an Hermès Constance bag, and when I signed with Calvin Klein, I decided this was the time that I could afford it. I truly broke a sweat when I paid for it.'

And does boyfriend Joshua Jackson share her love of style?

'We go shopping. But he likes it. I definitely wasn't fond of these blue sneakers that he wore all the time for about a year and a half.'

'A well-cut dress. It's all about the cut. I love three-quarter sleeves. I definitely like it classic; less is more. The thing I despise most is vulgarity, and there's a lot of that here [in L.A.].'

Lucky magazine Beauty Director Jean Godfrey June once wrote of then Creative Director Andrea Linett that if her outfits walked through a room without her body in them, you'd know whom they belonged to. It's true--Andrea's signature skinny jeans, rock & roll boots, abundance of delicate layered jewelry, hippie bags and self-described "hole-y cashmere sweaters" are uniquely her. So is that wavy, just-the-right shade of dark hair; the open laugh; the keen eye for style and the refreshingly democratic attitude about fashion ("We can all have style and you should have fun getting dressed," she said). All of these together make Andrea one of the most beloved and influential individuals in the industry today.

Confession: I worked at Lucky under Andrea, who co-founded the magazine, for several years. So did over half the regular contributors to The Inside Source. Andrea was our Pied Piper of style, setting the tone for the oft-copied look of the glossy as well as the office, where a handbag she a mentioned casually in conversation somehow ended up on the arm of the entire staff the following week. 'I want to be her' was something we all thought more than once about Andrea. (It's also the name of her new blog, where she deconstructs the style of cool girls around town and tells you where you can guy score their stuff.)

Andrea, whose own fashion icons include Bob Dylan, Jane Birkin and 'anyone who looks like they're not trying too hard--even if they're trying really really hard,' recently signed on as the Creative Director of eBay Fashion. What follows is an excerpt of my interview with Andrea, which can be read in full at The Inside Source.

The Inside Source: I've heard stories about how you discovered actress Chloe Sevigny while at Sassy. What's that all about?

Andrea Linett: I was the stylist for the Jane Pratt Show [Sassy Editor-in-Chief Jane Pratt's talk show]. So we were shooting a commercial for the TV show and I saw Chloe at a newsstand and I said to the producers, 'We have to put that girl in the commercial.' And they said, 'Oh no. She's weird.' And I said, 'No you don't get it; she's amazing.' So I went up to her and I asked her and she sad, 'Well, I'm actually cutting school. I live in Connecticut.' So she was playing hooky. So we put her in the commercial.

I said I want to shoot you for Sassy. And so I gave her my number and her mother called me and said, 'I think its great for her to model, but I think she should do something more worthwhile. So can she be your intern?' We said sure, we love her--she had already modeled for us for a while by then--and then she became our intern. She was like our mascot.

The Inside Source: Have you always wanted to work in fashion?



Andrea Linett: I either wanted to work in advertising, because my mom's always been in advertising and I grew up with it and I always found it really interesting, or fashion, because I have been obsessed, even from a very young age, with fashion magazines and catalogues and books about fashion. My first job out of school was at Sassy magazine. I was beyond thrilled to answer the phone. I was the receptionist. I could not believe I got the job. I was interviewing at fashion magazines and I think I found this one in the New York Times--"receptionist wanted"--very "Gal Friday". I was the receptionist for six months. Then I was promoted to Fashion & Beauty Assistant. We did everything there. Everything but the layouts. We did the casting, the styling. I got to do everything for our photo shoots. You would never get to do that now. So I learned a lot in a short time.

The Inside Source: Ok, so how about your personal style? How would you describe your style uniform?



Andrea Linett: I think I just like things that are classic. Most people think of classic as a white button down and a loafer. But even classic rock & roll clothes, to me, that's a classic. Even a fur vest is a classic because it's been around forever and is never going away. But I like to throw a little trend in there once in a while for fun. But I feel like, as I get older, I don't do that as much. I pair down a little more than I used to.

I'm embarrassed to admit that one of my signature pieces--that Kim France [Lucky's founding Editor-in-Chief] pointed out to me--is that my sweaters always have holes in them!

The Inside Source: So in your new role as Creative Director of eBay Fashion, what are you tasked to do at eBay?



Andrea Linett: eBay is one of the most amazing marketplaces in the world. It needs to reflect that this is the fashion destination and it doesn't at the moment. It doesn't have the right look and the right voice and it's still amazing. So imagine when it does. It's a lady who needs to be pampered. It's a beautiful woman walking around with a horrible haircut. It needs to be treated like the beautiful lady it is. It needs to be elevated. We have to make her up. There's going to be a point of view.

Daisy Lowe, model and 22 year-old daughter of Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale, had some pretty interesting things to say to the February issue of ASOS Magazine.

On her racy spread for Esquire UK last year: 'WIth the Esquire shoot, that was me going, 'I want to look back when I'm 60 and go, 'Cool! I could do that back then.'' But that was a very specific choice, and it felt like a really dirty one-night stand the next morning. We shot a video to go with it and it was like, 'What did I do? I was sober! And it was daytime! And I just took all my clothes off!' I made a choice after that to go 'clothes on.''

On her desire to see curvier models in print: 'My dream is to see a lot more female shapes in ad campaigns when I look through magazines...my friend was working with Crystal Renn and said she thinks she's only got a 38-inch hip. Karl Lagerfeld said he was going to embrace her womanly shape and then he just put her face on the ad campaign [See HERE]. Girls are starting to have tits in pictures, but I think it still needs to be about the curve... Real women have hips and an arse, yet loads of models in shows seem to have neither.'

On looking out for younger models: 'My advice to anyone starting out would be to not take anything personally. I had to learn that. If you're an option and you so desperately want it and then you don't get it, you have to go, there were a million girls up for this and you just weren't what they were looking for, but that's OK. Don't get disheartened about that stuff.'

On her modeling career: 'I've learnt a lot from modeling. I'm a lot more tolerant. It's taught me to be bold and be true to myself in a massive way. All the times I've been really upset with my fashion choices were when I was letting other people rule over me. It's made me bloody resilient, too, a Trojan, strong as hell, and all the traveling has made me more of an adventurer.'

'I don't read the papers. I sell papers,' Naomi Campbell told British GQ's March issue. And she's sure to sell quite a few with her candid discussion on topics how she felt after the Blood Diamond trial ('They tried to affect my work. They said the fashion industry shouldn't use me. But what had I done wrong?'), her anger issues and her past problems with drugs and alcohol. And then, there's an inset in which the supermodel speaks to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. An article that covers all bases, if you will.

NC: In the summer you were photographed on a Harley-Davidson at a bikers' festival in Ukraine. How were you received by the bikers, the Night Wolves?

VP: Well, these are really cool guys, really tough guys. One of them was a really courageous person who travelled a few thousand kilometres on a two-wheeler bike. He's a handicapped guy with only one leg - he lost it somewhere in Yugoslavia during the war. I'm not the tough guy, those guys are.

NC: You obviously make a great impression on women. How do you feel about the students who posed for you in the calendar? [Female students at Moscow State University in Russia produced rival calendars for Putin's 58th birthday. First, a group of journalism students in lingerie posed for a calendar with suggestive captions, such as: 'You put out forest fires, but I'm still burning.' Then another group hit back, posing in black, with their mouths taped shut.]

VP: I like the girls a lot, they're beautiful. I like the calendar but it's not the most important thing. As for the other one, well, in almost any country, probably in Russia in particular, it's fashionable to criticise people in power. If you come out in support of someone like me, you're going to be accused of trying to ingratiate yourself. The girls in the erotic calendar were courageous and they were not scared. As student journalists, they couldn't fail to understand what might have been said to them after doing this. Nonetheless, they were not deterred and did the calendar anyway. So, frankly, that's what I liked the most.

NC: You've been known to attend bare-knuckle fights. Ever been in one?

VP: No, it's not my sport; since I was 14, I've done judo. But the bare-knuckle fight I attended was very impressive. These guys are tough. I watched the Russian, French and British teams and each and every one of these athletes deserves great credit. There are even women who do it.

NC: Big women?

VP: Not big, just strong women.

A television commercial for Yves Saint Laurent's Belle D'Opium fragrance has been banned from British screens after the country's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) determined 'the woman's actions simulated drug use, and therefore concluded it was irresponsible and unacceptable for broadcast,' the Daily Mail reports.

The ASA added:

We were concerned that in the context of the ad, Belle [played by French actress Melanie Thierry] running her finger down her inner arm could be seen to simulate the injection of opiates into the body.

We were also concerned that following that scene, Belle was shown moving in a series of short, rapid scenes, before the ad concluded with her body seizing upwards while lying on the floor, an action we considered could be seen to simulate the effect of drugs on the body.

According to the Mail, the commercial was already viewed by 44 million people and 96 percent of French women found it to be totally acceptable. WWD writes that only 13 viewers complained about the spot.

To the surprise of few who were paying attention, a regular of Law & Order has indeed been added to Law & Order: Los Angeles, in the form of Alana De Garza. She joined the original show as A.D.A. Connie Rubirosa in its sixteenth-year. She stuck around for four seasons, including the final three seasons that made up the creative comeback of what fans refer to as 'the mothership'. She felt completely out of place sparring with by-then grandfatherly Sam Watterson in her first season, but was a perfect fit with Linus Roache once Watterston's Jack McCoy got promoted to DA during season 17.

Considering how much her character thrived when matched with a similarly-aged A.D.A. in the form of Roache's Mike Cutter, it's almost tragic that the show will likely return her character to the role of 'mentoree' to Terrence Howard's Deputy District Attorney Jonah Dekker. While it appears that most of the casting changes have already been completed, allow me to add a few suggestions of my own: Jeremy Sisto, Anthony Anderson, Linus Roache, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Sam Watterson. Oh, and they should move the show to New York City and drop that silly suffix. That is all. Actually, that's not all. If they can poach Richard Belzer over from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, more power to them, as Detective John Munch hasn't left the squad room in about four seasons. 'Chung-Chung'.

Vanity Fair has unveiled the cover of its 17th annual Hollywood Issue, for which the magazine 'went back to the basics - no teenagers, no penguins, no (full-on) nudity, just the most exciting actors and actresses of the moment.' There is also a lion cub and some Olivia Wilde side boob.

Last year's cover came under fire for featuring only young white women for the second year in a row.

This year there is more age and gender diversity and two people of color appear after the fold - 'The Hurt Locker' star Anthony Mackie and Rashida Jones (whose father, Quincy Jones, is black and mother, Peggy Lipton, is Jewish).

Unfortunately, Ricky Martin and newcomers the JaneDear Girls pour cold water onto the whole affair -- their two albums are so filled with mediocrity they suck all the air from the room.

MUST-PLAY PICK OF THE WEEK: The Boxer Rebellion

SKIP: Ricky Martin, Musica + Alma + Sexo

Part of me wants Ricky Martin to win. The guy comes out of the closet, starts a family, and finds a whole new lease on life. You'd have be a hater to rain on that parade. And Musica + Alma + Sexo is a mainstream bilingual parade full of hope and cheer. Produced by veteran hitmaker Desmond Child, Martin's new album is all about uplift and unity. Songs like 'Shine' and 'The Best Thing About Me Is You' bang the kumbaya drum. I give Martin a pass for good intentions but a fail for originality. Musica + Alma + Sexo is one cliche too many and is short on memorable melodies. There's nothing wrong with getting positive on the dance floor, but don't you want some songs you can remember after the club shuts down?

PLAY: North Mississippi Allstars, Keys to the Kingdom

Luther and Cody Dickinson's father -- legendary producer and pianist Jim Dickinson (that's him on the Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses') -- passed away in 2009, and his sons have chosen to celebrate his musical life rather than mourn his death. Keys to the Kingdom stares the Grim Reaper down not with fear but with 12 songs of Southern bluesy funk. It's not a perfect record, but neither is life. Or death. Still, the North Mississippi Allstars have made a fitting tribute to their pops. If life is short, then let the music be loud and filled with slide guitar.

PLAY: The Boxer Rebellion, The Cold Still

The members of the Boxer Rebellion come from England, Australia, and America and have had a rocky ten-year history below the radar. Despite touring with such heavyweight acts as the Killers and Lenny Kravitz, the Boxer Rebellion's self-released music (their one record label went belly-up in 2007) has been the object of fascination for a small audience of influential aficionados and music supervisors. Now enter producer Ethan Johns (Ray LaMontagne, Kings of Leon), determined to bring the Boxer Rebellion to the mainstream. Is the world ready for big panoramic guitars, vocals rich with reverb and romance, urgent rhythms, and epic songwriting? Please, if there's a God, let it be so. The Cold Still will send a shiver down your spine from start to finish. It's dark, broken, lovely music.

PLAY: The Civil Wars, Barton Hollow

Joy Williams and John Paul White look and sound like the White Stripes' turn-of-the century country cousins. The duo has only been together since 2008, but they sing like they share the same mama -- or lover. Songs like "Barton Hollow" and "Poison & Wine" (trotted out on Grey's Anatomy) carry forward the work started by such cult roots heroes as Gillian Welch and David Rawlings -- adding a layer of California pop sensibility, courtesy of Williams' West Coast roots. It's emotionally raw stuff dressed up in an unapologetically tight production. Still, the heart of these songs never succumbs to the studio slickness. The Civil Wars could be the new front in the battle to save modern country's soul.

SKIP: The JaneDear Girls, The JaneDear Girls

On the surface, the JaneDear Girls would seem to share the same marketing plan as the Civil Wars: highly stylized country pop with a seriously stylized dress code. But unlike the Civil Wars, who are looking for sincere earthy cred, the JaneDear Girls are stealing a few pages from Katy Perry's playbook. Mix in producer John Rich (half of uber-country pop duo Big & Rich), and you get the idea. The JaneDear Girls' debut fills that imaginary void between the Dixie Chicks and your favorite porn-star-turned-country-radio diva. It's as catchy, hummable, plastic, and forgettable as that last song you swore you'd never forget. Until you forgot it.

Camille Grammer made the talk-show rounds today. In a segment on The View, Barbara Walters grilled Grammer about her alleged sexless marriage, based on comments the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star made in last week's reunion show.

Never one to shy away from tough questions, Walters implicitly referred to Kelsey's fiancée Kayte Walsh when asking, 'Why were you surprised that he wanted someone else?'

'There's so much more to marriage than sex,' Camille replied. 'You'd have to ask him that.'

Her flustered reply didn't stop Walters: 'Well I thought I'd ask you because you're the one that said it. Why would you be surprised that he would look elsewhere?'

Camille admitted that her and Kelsey 'tried,' but 'something didn't click with us on an intimate level,' and added, 'It's too bad that now I've lost my best friend.'

When questioned about Kelsey's request for a quickie divorce and upcoming nuptials, Camille wasn't shy to reveal her true feelings:

'He did rush it. It's a bit impetuous don't you think?' she asked. 'He wants what he wants right away. He's almost like a child.'

Kelsey told David Letterman that he hopes to marry Walsh in February. Will Camille attend the wedding?

'No, absolutely not would I want to sit there. That would be awful,' she said.

Sick of all the nasty things being blogged about her, Jennifer Aniston took matters into her own hands. Nearly literally.

The former 'Friends' star, who features in the upcoming comedy 'Just Go With It,' appears on 'The Ellen Degeneres Show' on Thursday, and talks in part about her chance confrontation with the self-proclaimed 'Queen of all Media,' who developed a reputation as one of the nastiest celebrity bloggers around.

'I ran into Perez Hilton in a garage. One of those moments you just never expect to happen. I had finished dinner with a girlfriend and we were driving out and I saw this tall, long, lean person and I say, 'Who is that?' And she says, 'I think that's Perez Hilton.' I said, 'No. I have to say something to him. I have to.' So I pulled up and we were sort of scoping each other out as I was pulling the car up. I just rolled down the window and I was like, 'Hi.' And he went, 'Hi.' We stood there like two deer in headlights. And I just said, 'Come here. Just talk to me for a second.' It was one of those great moments. It was a lovely meeting and I was just like, 'Why are you so mean?'

Turns out, it worked. Hilton in fact went on Degeneres' show in October to announce that he was no longer going to bully.

'Over the last two weeks I have been doing everything I can to bring awareness to the teen suicides and gay bullying,' Hilton told DeGeneres. 'In doing so, a lot of people have called me a hypocrite and a bully myself and a big one... From now on I really want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.'

So far, it's been a promise kept, something Aniston gives him credit for.

'There's something really great about putting a human being in front of another human being and then the reality that those words,' she said, 'even if it's for humor or effect or whatever, there's a human being behind all of that... And he's kept it up too which is good.'

Justin Timberlake celebrated his 30th birthday with a chilly dip in the Pacific Ocean on Monday, January 31.

No, JT’s shirtless dip wasn’t part of some bizarre birthday rite, he was simply braving the freezing waters while filming a scene for his new movie, Now. Justin looked pretty cold when he jumped into the waters but his hot body must have kept him warm after the initial temperature shock.

Lindsay Lohan is once again being investigated by the legal system, this time for a purported stolen necklace.

The Los Angeles Police Department had issued a search warrant for Lohan’s home after she allegedly stole a necklace worth $2,500 from a store. TMZ reports that the claim was filed by a store owner last week, who claims Lohan tried on the expensive accessory in the store and walked out with it. Even more, she says there’s video of Lohan wearing it before exiting.

Police did indeed search Lohan’s abode, but the necklace was returned to the store before they arrived.

Lohan has reportedly denied any wrongdoing in the matter, saying that the store owner is “nuts” and that she never stole a necklace.

The drama comes at a time when Lohan had seemed to be in a transitional period in her life. On January 3, she was released from the Betty Ford Clinic treatment center after being ordered by the court to spend more than three months in rehab following probation violations. Since her release, Lohan has made few public appearances and has yet to do a major post-rehab interview.

It’s a Bieber family reunion!

Justin Bieber brought his family together at the Toronto premiere of Never Say Never on Tuesday, February 1. Justin posed for photos with his mom (and manager) Pattie Mallete and father Jeremy Bieber. Pattie and Jeremy are no longer together and Jeremy has since married another woman with whom he has two children.

Aside from the family meeting, Justin looked happy to greet fans and talk with reporters on the red carpet. Justin is currently in the middle of a huge press tour to promote his new film, Never Say Never, which hits theaters on February 11.
