Alexander Wang's first jewelry collection will hit stores (and online) mid-December
Alexander Wang is officially branching out into jewelry. The debut designs, which first appeared on the runway at Wang's spring 2016 show, are heavily inspired by the streets, and include a padlock and heavy chain necklace, a cuff and earrings made from mixed metals. Prices for Wang's first jewelry offering range from $295 to $525, and will be available later this month at the designer's stand-alone stores before expanding to outside retailers in the spring. {WWD}
Katie Couric writes about the power of kindness and Karlie Kloss's friendship with Abby Shapiro
We oftentimes talk (and think) about 23-year-old Karlie Kloss as a brand, rather than a real person. But on Tuesday, Katie Couric gave us a no-filter glimpse into Kloss's true character in a deeply moving piece about Kloss's friendship with 16-year-old Abby Shapiro, who passed away from cancer on Labor Day. The story is really, truly worth your time. {Time}
Saks Fifth Avenue hosts a party for fashion director Roopal Patel at the Gramercy Park Hotel
Last night, the fashion community, including InStyle's Eric Wilson, Marchesa co-founders Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig and designer Jonathan Simkhai gathered on the Terrace of the Gramercy Park Hotel to celebrate Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Director Roopal Patel. The trend expert started the job on first day of NYFW this past September and is looking forward to introducing new edgier brands, including Vetements and Brandon Maxwell, to the Saks sales floors. Next year, Patel and Saks have big plans: opening the Brookfield Place concept store in June, plus reopening the third and fourth floors of the flagship in August and September after renovations. "We're really just looking to be strategic in how we navigate the next year, with all these exciting initiatives," Patel said. {Fashionista}
Photo: Frame Denim
While attending a beer pong tournament could qualify as a typical Tuesday night in college, it's certainly not the norm among the fashion crowd. But with the help of Frame Denim, Derek Blasberg and Poppy Delevingne gathered some of their closest friends (Dakota Johnson, Bee Shaffer and Jennifer Meyer joined Team Derek, while Team Poppy consisted of Giovanna Battaglia, Jessica Hart and Harley Viera-Newton, with a very enthusiastic Natalie Massenet in her cheering section) for a double-or-nothing shootout that left Blasberg and co. victorious. Perhaps Delevingne was at a disadvantage because beer pong isn't a "thing" in the U.K. Either way, nothing like a little healthy competition between pals, right? {Fashionista}
Lane Bryant's Twitter chat did not go well
Lane Bryant has been leading the conversation on body positivity through its "#ImNoAngel" campaign in the past year, so you'd think customers would be generally happy during a live Twitter chat with Chief Marketing Officer Brian Beitler. Wrong. On Tuesday, several customers aired their grievances for all to hear. One user tweeted, "At what point is @LaneBryant going to be interested in actually humanizing fat people?" Another tweeted: "#AskLaneBryant when will we see a size 22+ model not only in a campaign/ad but also product shots on website?" Yikes. {Yahoo! Style}
