'Weird Al' Declares 'Mandatory' World Tour

'Weird Al' Declares 'Mandatory' World Tour:

"Weird Al" Yankovic will spend much of this year on the road, touring all over North America and hitting select European, Australian and New Zealand cities in support of his 2014 album, Mandatory Fun.

While the king of pop parody already scheduled a set at this year's Governors Ball in New York City, the singer announced the "Mandatory World Tour" on his website with a 30-second clip, which called on citizens of the world to "enlist in the greatest musical spectacle ever seen." Toggling between footage of Soviet-era Russia and classic "Weird Al" clips, the voiceover promised music, humor and fun, and closed with the friendly reminder: "It will rock your world. Be there — it's mandatory!"

The "Mandatory World Tour" begins its North American leg on May 12th with a five-night stint at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood and wraps up in Laughlin, Nevada on September 18th at Harrah's Laughlin — Rio Vista Outdoor Amphitheater (a full list of dates is below). Pre-sale for all North American dates begins January 27th at 10 a.m. local time. Details and ticket info for the singer's European, Australian and New Zealand dates will be announced soon.

Mandatory Fun, Weird Al's 14th album, became the first in his 30-year career to hit Number One on the Billboard 200. To celebrate the LP's release, the musician dropped eight videos in eight days, including his send-ups of Pharrell Williams ("Tacky"), Robin Thicke ("Word Crimes"), Lorde ("Foil") and Iggy Azaela ("Handy") alongside homages to the Pixies ("First World Problems"), Southern Culture on the Skids ("Lame Claim to Fame") and Crosby, Stills and Nash ("Mission Statement").
