The Top 5 Things You NEED to Know About Louis Vuitton’s Palm Springs Show

The Top 5 Things You NEED to Know About Louis Vuitton’s Palm Springs Show:

There was already a big event on the fashion calendar this week, but that didn’t stop the fashion pack from flocking to the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2016 presentation in Palm Springs on Wednesday. Held at the breathtaking Bob Hope estate, which was designed by John Lautner in the ’70s and is currently for sale for a cool $25 million, the show featured designer Nicholas Ghesquiere’s usual brand of ’70s funk meets sci-fi chic via an enigmatic collection featuring high-impact tribal designs, floor-grazing gowns done in rich leather, and the new take on Daisy Duke shorts — or is that underwear? Below, we’ve rounded up the five thing you need to know about the brand’s mesmerizing Resort ‘16 show — from the celebrity front-rowers (Miranda Kerr! Kanye!) to the show-stopping beauty looks.

1. Miranda Kerr made an appearance

After turning heads at the annual Met Gala on Monday night (in Louis Vuitton, no less), the Australian super jetted out to the desert to grace Ghesquiere’s front row with her ultra-stylish presence.  Once again, Miranda impressed in a look by the French house, this time sporting a snug fitting leather mini skirt and a white sleeveless blouse.  Can you say, “legs for days!” The supermodel was joined by fellow celeb-guest Selena Gomez, Kanye West, Michelle Williams, and Gia Coppola.

2. The atmosphere was every bit as breathtaking as the collection

Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a cadre of models sporting one of the most elaborate makeup looks we’ve seen in ages.  Gone were Fall’s simple slashes of black kohl, and in their place were Pat McGrath’s geometric, Technicolor masterpieces that hearkened back to Ziggy Stardust’s days.  The models sucked nonchalantly on popsicles and cigarettes while presiding over the scene from a balcony — their Flock of Seagulls hairstyles still visible from a far.

3. All of the top runway models were there

Despite it being a smaller preseason show, Ghesquiere enlisted a number of in-demand catwalkers for the resort gig including Malaika Firth, Natalie Westling, Amanda Murphy, Julia Nobis, Alexander Elizabeth Ljadov and show closer Fernanda Hin Lin Ly (aka the pink-haired model that stole the show at the brand’s fall 2015 show).

4. Hotpants were given new meaning

Leave it to Nicholas Ghesquiere to take leg-barring hemlines to new heights with the unveiling of these extreme hotpants.  We’re loving the exotic prints, but let’s get real here, these will only ever look good on a model.

5. After the show, there was an after party

Immediately following the show, Ghesquiere invited his guests to a carnival-themed after party that included a claw arcade game. Yes, the claw was vending out Louis Vuitton clutches and wallets. That is, if you were lucky.
