A racy car advertisement, featuring busty burlesque star Dita Von Teese and peppered with cameos from Rihanna and French soccer ace Thierry Henry, has been banned from broadcast on daytime TV in the UK.
A bra-and-panty-clad Dita poses seductively on a chair in the spot for car manufacturer Renault, which released the commercial as part of its “Va Va Voom” campaign over the weekend. The footage appears rather tame compared to Von Teese’s famous burlesque shows, but has nonetheless been flagged by British censors, who worry that the footage may be inappropriate for younger viewers.
This isn’t the first time Dita’s famed form has gotten the sultry star into a sticky situation with censorship officials. Earlier this year, executives at CBS asked the dancer to keep her ample bosom covered during a guest appearance on the network’s forensic crime drama, CSI.
