The Kendall Jenner Bullying Continues With Nasty Magazine Cover

The Kendall Jenner Bullying Continues With Nasty Magazine Cover:

It doesn't take a trained photo editor to be able to tell these images are fake. It doesn't take a trained photo editor to be able to tell these images are fake.
With as much positive attention as Kendall Jenner has gotten from industry bigwigs in the past year or so, the 18-year-old seems to be having a rough go of it this Fashion Month.

On Thursday, it was reported that fellow "non-celebrity" models were mistreating Jenner backstage at fashion shows because they think she's undeserving of the special treatment she's getting. (That, and because she's taking their hard-earned jobs and runway slots away from them.) Now, the bullying continues, thanks to one nasty cover from Australian celebrity gossip magazine, Famous. The cover lines claim that Jenner is "too fat" for the runway, and that her agents are insisting that she lose about 17 pounds if she wants to continue working. Um, gross.

This drivel is supplemented with some (very poorly) Photoshopped images of Jenner walking the Tommy Hilfiger runway with a trivial amount of cellulite on her thighs, which, of course, is supposed to make the Famous readers recoil in disgust. For the record, we saw this show in person, and Jenner looked fantastic (see below). Sure, a little bit of cattiness among models backstage at a show is one thing — let's be real, it happens at every job — but this is taking the cruelty way too far, don't you think?

Kendall Jenner Reportedly Bullied by Fellow Models During Fashion Week

Kendall Jenner Reportedly Bullied by Fellow Models During Fashion Week:

Kendall Jenner's modeling career trajectory is far from the norm. Her first season doing the shows (back in February during Fall 2014 Fashion Month) she scored blue chip gigs — slots on the Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Chanel runways — that most models have to pay their dues for years before landing. In addition, she won the approval of industry heavy-hitters early on, specifically Love EIC Katie Grand and Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy, who cast her in the label's fall ad campaign.

Her hot streak has continued this season, and so far Jenner has walked for Diane von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger and Fendi to name just a few. Plenty of this can be chalked up to nepotism (Tisci is best friends with Jenner's brother-in-law, Kanye West), and apparently fellow models are none too pleased about the favoritism the Kardashian sibling has received during her short time on the scene.

In this week's issue, In Touch reports that Jenner has faced bullying from other models this season, due to the fact that she's unfairly "stealing" their spots on the runway. Instead of warmly welcoming the new girl on the scene, they apparently resorted to playing cruel practical jokes on her. “[The models] started acting so bitchy — some even put out their cigarettes in Kendall’s drink,” a source revealed to the magazine. “Models can be cruel, especially with someone new and entitled.”

Despite the dubious source, we're inclined to believe this: Whenever we ran into Jenner at an event during New York Fashion Week or backstage at a show, she was receiving special treatment, with handlers to ice out the fashion press or a separate call time so she wasn't made to get ready with the other girls. She also only hangs around with fellow celebrity offspring — Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid, specifically — which doesn't do much to disprove her labeling as a "celebrity model." Finally, before Fashion Week began, several industry insiders spoke on the record about Jenner taking work from non-celebrity models due mostly to her familial connections.

Jenner is a natural modeling talent, and while we don't doubt that she would have had a swift ascent in the fashion industry without her last name, she likely would have had to pound the pavement and start small like most models do. While the 18-year-old probably has a long, lucrative career ahead of her, it looks like it could be pretty lonely for her at the top.

10 Beauty Tips Ripped From the Runways

10 Beauty Tips Ripped From the Runways:

For every impossible hair style that requires two packs of extensions to execute, hair, makeup and nail gurus inevitably pass on several practical tips backstage at Fashion Week, too. And this season at the Spring 2015 shows, I was listening carefully for these gems. Read on for 10 tips you can easily incorporate into your daily beauty routine.

Use mousse instead of hair wax:

Sleek but not slick hair at Prabal Gurung. Photo: Imaxtree Sleek but not slick hair at Prabal Gurung. Photo: Imaxtree
At the Prabal Gurung show, hair stylist Paul Hanlon used mousse on dry hair instead of traditional hair wax to get the sweaty look that was so popular this season. There are several advantages: It will give you "dirty separation" without being too heavy, it dries more quickly, it's more pliable, and you can brush it out if you hate it and need to start over.

The new accent nail is now two accent nails:

Subtly subversive nail art at Prabal Gurung. Photo: Sally Hansen Subtly subversive nail art at Prabal Gurung. Photo: Sally Hansen
You heard it here first. At Prabal Gurung, manicurist Jin Soon Choi created tribal-inspired nail art with Sally Hansen polishes. But instead of doing the whole hand or just one nail, she turned the whole world topsy-turvy and did TWO accent nails, on the third and fourth fingers. Nail art isn't dead. It's just being sneakier.

How to wear purple mascara without looking like a clown:

Pretty purples at Derek Lam. Photo: Imaxtree Pretty purples at Derek Lam. Photo: Imaxtree
Tom Pecheux used a purple MAC mascara (available next spring) to complement the overall purple-y/mauve face at Derek Lam. But he said that only using purple would make lashes "shrink." To combat this, he first put on a light coat of black mascara "to make lashes fuller, stronger, and, bigger," then layered violet on top for a flash of purple.

Use brow product instead of mascara on your lashes:

She has lashes, but they're not crazy, at DKNY. Photo: Imaxtree She has lashes, but they're not crazy, at DKNY. Photo: Imaxtree
At DKNY, makeup artist Yadim was trying to capture sweaty girls running around New York City, a look that isn't really compatible with a lot of mascara. So to make the eyes open a bit, he curled the lashes and used Maybelline's Brow Drama, which comes in a wand like mascara, but is nowhere near as concentrated or clumpy. (I actually tried a version of this for the gym -- I took my eyebrow brush, which I haven't cleaned forever so it is gunked up with brow powder and wax, and swiped it on my lashes. It worked!)

Sleep in a doo-rag to get rid of too-puffy hair:

Do wear a doo-rag, like the models at Derek Lam. Photo: Imaxtree Do wear a doo-rag, like the models at Derek Lam. Photo: Imaxtree
When I first hit the backstage area at Derek Lam, I was pretty excited about the colorful doo-rags I saw all the models wearing. But alas, they were to be taken off for the show. They were there because hair stylist Orlando Pita didn't want too much volume on top. (His assistant had gone to Brooklyn the night before the show to pick them up.) Pita also noted that he'd met a woman backstage that day who always sleeps in a doo-rag to prevent too much crown puffiness in the morning.

Marble nail art the easy way

Don't call it marble. It is "pixelated watercolor." Photo: Cheryl Wischhover/Fashionista Don't call it marble. It is "pixelated watercolor." Photo: Cheryl Wischhover/Fashionista
So, back to subtle nail art. For Opening Ceremony, Jan Arnold (for CND) created a "pixelated watercolor" that to the naked, non-manicurist eye looks like marble. She layered pastels or black over white, then dripped a small drop of acetone on it to let the swirling happen. Easiest nail art ever.

Use lip balm for everything

A subtle sheen at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Photo: Imaxtree A subtle sheen at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Photo: Imaxtree
I already carry at least three lip balms with me at all times, which I use as a stand in for hair wax and to tame flyaways, in addition to its actual purpose of hydrating my lips. Makeup artists took it a step further backstage. Diane Kendal used it on the cheekbones at Marc by Marc Jacobs as a highlighter and to capture the sheen you'd have while dancing at a rave. Yadim used it on the eyelids -- glossy lids were a huge trend this season -- instead of stickier gloss to get a glow.

Tweak the cat eye to make it more modern

A flick, but thick, at Oscar de la Renta. Photo: Imaxtree A flick, but thick, at Oscar de la Renta. Photo: Imaxtree
At Oscar de la Renta, makeup artist Gucci Westman gave the models graphic eyeliner, but thicker and blunter with a more subtle flick. Westman called it "cooler and more modern" than your standard cat eye.

Layer your blush

The sun-dappled cheeks at 3.1 Phillip Lim. Photo: Imaxtree The sun-dappled cheeks at 3.1 Phillip Lim. Photo: Imaxtree
At 3.1 Phillip Lim, makeup artist Francelle Daly sandwiched two different blushes -- a pinky one in the middle  and a peachy hue above and below -- to create a color that works on all different skin tones with the goal of "emulating the way the sun hits you." Daly used new NARS shades that won't be available until spring, but for now you can try NARS' New Order Blush and South Beach Multiple to recreate.

Blend your eye shadow out instead of up

Ignore the "piercings" for a sec and look a bit lower. Photo: Imaxtree Ignore the "piercings" for a sec and look a bit lower. Photo: Imaxtree
At Rodarte, James Kaliardos was inspired by designer Laura Mulleavy's way of applying eyeshadow. He blended it out horizontally rather than in a diagonal, upward direction. He called it kind of a cool, less theatrical alternative to the Kim Kardashian natural-smoky look.

Cara Delevingne Just Landed a Major Movie Role

Cara Delevingne Just Landed a Major Movie Role:

Major news for Cara Delevingne and her burgeoning acting career: She just landed the lead female role in the latest adaptation of a John Green book, Paper Towns.

Reported in Variety and confirmed on Twitter by Green himself, Delevingne will play Margo alongside actor Nat Woolf. Green's latest adaptation, The Fault in Our Stars, grossed $280 million worldwide — so a small time Fendi film this is not.

Never 4get. Never 4get.
We were maybe just a tiny bit skeptical until we read this part: "The two leads grow apart — until the night he finds her at his bedroom window, dressed like a ninja." Dressed like a ninja, you say? We would have hired Delevingne just to see her act out this scene alone.

Delevingne's previous acting experience includes a line-free role in Anna Karenina, a made for TV drama called Timeless, and is currently in talks for a Beach Boys movie. No word on what this means for her music career.

Cara Delevingne Wears A Blazer, Little Else

While the look most associated with Cara Delevingne might include beanies and onesies, the look of hers we love most is the one she breaks out for red carpet events. You know, the one that involves a strong brow, delicate heels and saucy dress.

And for a London Fashion Week party co-hosted by British Vogue Editor in Chief Alexandra Shulman, Delevingne went fancy and did not disappoint. In a navy velvet blazer dress, Delevingne proved that sometimes the chicest outfits are also the simplest. The model (and soon to be actress!) piled her hair into a simple topknot and focused on glam makeup to fully transform into the mega babe we know she is. As for accessories, all she needed were some sandal heels, a gold chain necklace and one of her Mulberry bags.

So the next time you're freaking out over cocktail party attire and have tried on every belt you own with every shirt/skirt combo, follow the Delevingne method and keep it simple.

The day has come! At approximately 12:46 p.m. EST something magical happened on the Prada runway: Gemma Ward.

The Australian model who quit the business in 2008 strutted out onto Prada's sandy runway in a long coat and literally shocked the entire Fashionista office (and probably everyone else watching the livestream or at the show). Since leaving the business, Ward has appeared in films like "The Black Balloon" and "The Great Gatsby" and also had a child. From the look of things, she wasn't coming back to modeling any time soon... but if anyone could persuade her to take to the runway again it's Miuccia Prada and casting director Ashley Brokaw.

Not only does Ward's appearance solidify the fact that models are making their return to the spotlight (look no further than Vogue's September cover or the major models who walked in other SS15 shows, like Abbey Lee Kershaw, Kristen Owen, Maggie Rizer or Lara Stone, who closed the Prada show, for proof), but it's also probably about to put an end to the stunt casting that dominated New York runways. I mean, who really cares which runways celebrity spawn models walked when Gemma Ward is back in the game?

Watch the show below and enjoy our very apt #TBT of Ward's fall 2004 Prada campaign. Here's to many more in the future!

Babe alert: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attended the launch of the Moroccan Oil "Inspired by Women" campaign on Wednesday, and obviously, she did so looking fly as hell.

The model-slash-actress wore head to toe Versus by Versace, which on its own is a sexy line, but on Huntington-Whiteley's bod the look goes to another level. Not many people can pull off a blazer cut down to there, but she does so while still looking more fashionable than sexual — probably thanks to the perfectly slouchy pants and relaxed, beachy hair.

Elle Fanning Looks Even Better as a Brunette

Elle Fanningreal-life Disney princess, fashion favorite, star of Opening Ceremony's NYFW play — is a blonde no more. The younger Fanning debuted a blunt auburn cut on Sunday at the premiere of "The Boxtrolls." It rocks.

Not that I didn't like Fanning's platinum hair while she had it. It was part and parcel of her pretty, ethereal aesthetic. But the darker shade just works so dang well with her pinkish coloring. As a pale, pink undertoned blonde myself, I say this from a place of love and empathy, not judgment: Without a good eyeliner or lipstick to define things, our faces kind of... disappear. Thanks to the auburn, her lovely features immediately pop.

The new cut, paired with a sleek all-black outfit from Oscar de la Renta, is also decidedly more grown-up than her past looks in a '90s-cool-girl kind of way. (That said, let's all just remember that Fanning is just 16, so no need to rush her into premature adulthood here.)

Let's hope she keeps the look well beyond whatever role she might have done it for.

Emma Watson Makes Strides for Gender Equality in Dior

We've said it before and we've said it again: Emma Watson can do it all. The Brown University graduate is not only a wildly talented actress and a frequent contender for best dressed lists all over the world, she's also an activist, and as part of her duties as the United Nations Women's Goodwill ambassador, she gave a moving speech on feminism in New York over the weekend that had the Internet (us included) very impressed.

To launch the new HeForShe initiative that aims to end gender inequality, Watson got personal about her experiences with sexism and speaking about feminism, telling the audience, "I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating ... if there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop." She also shared anecdotes about her youth, including that she was called “bossy” when she wanted to direct her school plays, something that never happened to her male counterparts.

While Watson's speech was awe-inspiring on its own, the Dior coat dress she wore while delivering it was equally splendid. The silver, asymmetrical dress from Raf Simons's resort 2015 collection for the house was a touch conservative, but still youthful and modern — especially paired with a metallic silver belt and a dainty hand chain and jewels by Eva Fehren. She kept her beauty look similarly simple, save for a very fall-appropriate berry lip. We're not sure if the multi-talented Watson will ever do a career 180 and run for a government office, but if she does, we already know she can dress (and act) the part.

A longtime favorite of high fashion designers, Karlie Kloss has officially found commercial success as well. There's her side gig as a Victoria's Secret Angel, and now the supermodel is the new face of L'Oréal Paris, a rep for the beauty giant confirmed Tuesday.

Apparently being the face of L'Oréal was always a goal for Kloss, who nabbed her first fragrance campaign for Chanel last month. As the supermodel explains in an interview with Style.com, she "had L’Oréal, American Vogue, and Victoria’s Secret" at the top of her professional wish list. And with good reason: A beauty deal -- especially one with a brand as huge as L'Oreal -- is about as high-profile and lucrative as modeling jobs get.

There's no word yet on when Kloss's first campaign for the brand will drop; according to L'Oréal's rep, those details should come in the next day or so. In the meantime, Kloss is already busy fulfilling her spokesmodel duties, mentioning to Style.com that she swears by L'Oréal's Volume Filler Thickening shampoo and conditioner. Hey, it's game time.

Mother of Pearl Is a London Label to Watch

Mother of Pearl Is a London Label to Watch:

Color, pattern, embellishment, athleticwear: Those were the motifs that appeared again and again at London Fashion Week, and perhaps no label combined them quite as deliciously as Mother of Pearl, which staged its second Fashion Week presentation the day before editors caught their flights to Milan.

Mother of Pearl is almost old news in London's emerging design scene. The label was founded in 2002 by Maia Norman, a fashion stylist (and the former long-time partner of artist Damien Hirst), and Sue Foulston, a designer who also teaches at Central Saint Martins. In 2008, it relaunched with a more modern, sportier vibe, which continues today under the creative direction of Amy Powney, who has been working with the label since she graduated from Kingston University eight years ago. (She became creative director in 2010.)

Mother of Pearl has all the ingredients of a successful fashion label. The silhouettes are easy to wear, the prints are attractive and distinctive (each season, it partners with a new artist), and the price points are competitive and wide-ranging: A printed sweatshirt or jersey lounge pants will set you back less than $300, while a silk day-to-evening dress or crystal-embellished coat might cost $1,000 or more than twice that.

Mother of Pearl's Amy Powney. Photo: Mother of Pearl Mother of Pearl's Amy Powney. Photo: Mother of Pearl
The bestselling pieces, Powney tells us, are the slip-on sneakers: simple canvas creations featuring the label's signature prints, which usually run around $400. For resort 2015, Mother of Pearl introduced its first bags -- a set of canvas clutches and a simple rucksack with those unmistakable prints -- which, frankly, weren't on par with the rest of the label's offerings to date. "That was just a small introduction, I didn't really feel like those were as successful as they should have been," Powney admits. Spring 2015's lineup was an improvement: Colorful, leather-backed envelope clutches plastered in paillettes were the mainstay, to be priced at $320 and up.

With it's universally appealing aesthetic, it's no surprise that Mother of Pearl is growing quickly around the world. It seems particularly poised for a U.S. breakthrough. The label is already carried by Opening Ceremony in New York and Los Angeles and by Fivestory in New York, and online through Saks, Net-a-Porter, Moda Operandi, Shopbop and Ssense. Bergdorf Goodman picked up pieces from Mother of Pearl's resort collection for the first time -- with "a few more retailers in the pipeline for spring/summer," Powney says.

But don't expect Mother of Pearl to appear on the New York Fashion Week calendar anytime soon. Powney has been showing her collections privately in the U.S., mainly to press, for several seasons now -- but, at this point, it's just too costly to host a public presentation there. "I do have to admit that for the London designers it's so much more expensive to go over to the U.S., to fly everybody out and rent spaces," Powney says. "I think a lot of brands are quite keen to do it but for small brands it's quite difficult to cover the costs." Instead, she's thinking about moving beyond the presentation format, with plans to stage a full-on runway show in London next season. An e-commerce site is somewhere down the pipeline.

But for the immediate future, Powney will be fully focused on pre-fall. "We usually pick the fabrics for the next collection the next morning [after we show]," she says matter-of-factly. "You have to. [Our next collection] has to be ready by November." There's no rest for the wicked -- or the emerging designer.

The 9 Strangest Collaborations to Come Out of Fashion Month

The 9 Strangest Collaborations to Come Out of Fashion Month:

Miley Cyrus collaborates with Jeremy Scott. Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images Miley Cyrus collaborates with Jeremy Scott. Photo: Chelsea Lauren/Getty Images
In addition to being an opportunity for brands to unveil their new collections, the runway has also become a place to show off (hopefully) buzzy new collaborations with other brands or, in some cases, the products of a sponsor.

Often, those collaborations make a lot of sense in terms of synergy, or are a smart way for a brand to extend into a different market or become exposed to a different audience. Opening Ceremony’s partnership with Intel at New York Fashion Week was pretty cool, as was Tome’s with jewelry label Lizzie Fortunato.

Other times, they leave us scratching our heads. Again, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing — sometimes they yield cute, if a bit useless, results. We were surprised, for instance, by how omnipresent Barbie was this season, both in New York and Milan.

Elsewhere in New York, a bunch of designers created looks for Snoopy, somewhat inexplicably. There were also a number of wearable tech collabs, some of which worked better than others.

Read on for the oddest collabs to come out of New York, London and Milan.
