MOVIE : “The Rocketeer” 20th Anniversary Blu-ray

“The Rocketeer” 20th Anniversary Blu-ray:


The movie “The Rocketeer” has just arrived on Blu-ray as part of the film’s 20th anniversary celebration. “The Rocketeer” was directed by Joe Johnston, who also directed Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger“!

This is the first time the movie has been made available on Blu-ray and the release features state-of-the-art digital restoration and enhanced high definition sound. Here’s the description of the movie:

“The discovery of a top-secret jetpack hurls test pilot Cliff Secord into a daring adventure of mystery, suspense, and intrigue! Cliff encounters an assortment of

ruthless villains, led by a Hollywood screen star who is a secret Nazi spy. With the

help of his actress girlfriend, the young pilot battles enormous odds to defeat his

foes who are anxious to use the device in an evil plan to rule the world. The dangerous mission transforms the ordinary young man into an extraordinary hero.”

And here is a list of actors in the film:

- Billy Campbell (“The OC,” Enough)

- Jennifer Connelly (Blood Diamond, The Dilemma)

- Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine, Get Smart)

- Timothy Dalton (The Tourist, “Chuck”)

“The Rocketeer” reminded us a lot of the Marvel superhero movies that have been arriving lately, and that’s really no surprise since the movie was directed by Joe Johnston, who also directed Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger.” When you watch the movie, you barely notice that it is twenty years old. The plot is still entertaining, and the characters are exciting to follow along with.

With all of the family coming together this holiday season, this is a great movie that everyone can enjoy. It has adventure, it has romance, it has action. Many of you voted for Selena Gomez to influence our first Jane By Design Style Challenge – set up by ABC Family to help raise awareness for their new show “Jane By Design” arriving on the network on January 3, 2012. We have just received our second challenge, and again we need you to vote on which Disney Celebrity should influence our work!

Here’s the email we received for the challenge:

“Hi There!

My name is Jane Quimby and I’m Gray’s assistant. Nice to meet you by e-mail! Gray is out of the office and asked me to tell you that you’ve made it to the next phase of the interview process. Barely. Umm, that was her word, not mine. I think you’re doing great so far!

Gray asked me to brief you on your next challenge. Style icons can be an important source of inspiration. Who is your style icon? Is it your mother or a favorite aunt? A celebrity or an athlete? A world leader or rock star?

Find the plain white t-shirt in your trunk. Using items around your house or your office, create a design on the t-shirt inspired by your fashion icon. Then, put the shirt on your dress form and post a photo of it to your blog, along with an entry that talks about how your design was inspired by your fashion icon.
