It looks like Pretty Little Liars will be getting a sister series on ABC Family: The Lying Game.
Sara Shepard, who penned the Pretty Little Liars book series that spawned the smash hit show, released her latest page turner, The Lying Game, on Feb. 8 and Hollywood isn’t wasting any time converting it into a TV series. The Lying Game is one of four shows recently picked up by ABC Family for premiere in the Fall of 2011.
A pilot was filmed late last year with Alexandra Chando on board to play both twins, Emma and Sutton. Helen Slater — star of 1984′s Supergirl and more recently seen in guest stints on Smallville, Greek, and Grey’s Anatomy — has been cast as an uppercrust mom in the upcoming series.
Here’s a synopsis: “What would you do if you had a long-lost twin? What if she disappeared the day you were supposed to meet? How far would you go to find out what went wrong? In The Lying Game, Emma Paxton travels to Arizona to start a new life with her long-lost sister, but the life she’s about to begin is the one her sister left behind…”
