Still waiting on that invite to Britain’s royal wedding? Lifetime’s got the next best thing! The cable network most popular for its femme-friendly programming and made-for-TV movies has greenlit a a television movie about royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton, Entertainment Weekly said Thursday.. The still-untitled feature will air just a few weeks before the college sweethearts tie the knot at Westminster Abbey in London on April 29.
The announcement comes shortly after TLC announced plans to devote a week to royal-themed specials and news coverage leading up to the spring nups.
Lifetime describes the film as a retelling of “the friendship between Prince William, second in line to the throne of the British monarchy, and future princess Kate Middleton, the stunning daughter of upper middle-class commoners, blossomed into a romantic love affair, charming the world with their recent engagement and eagerly awaited Royal Wedding.”
Newcomer Nico Evers-Swindell is on board to play William and British actor Ben Cross has been cast as Prince Charles. The network, however, is still on the hunt for the perfect actress for the role of the Princess-to-Be.
Any suggestions on who should play Kate? How about Megan Fox? After landing a Worst Actress Razzie nomination this week, we’ve got a feeling she’s going to need the work.
