Selena Gomez Ditches Purity Ring As Romance With Justin Bieber Heats Up: "

When Selena Gomez, 18, was snapped on a yacht off the coast of the Carribean over the holidays, attached to the hip of pop sensation Justin Bieber’s hip, her purity ring -– a symbol of her pledge to remain celibate until marriage -– was nowhere to be seen…and her parents are worried.

The actress has been wearing the jewelry — inscribed with the phrase “True Love Waits” — for years, but she reportedly removes it every time she’s with her “Baby” crooning beau, celebrity informants squeal on the pages of the Jan. 24 issue of The National Enquirer.

“When the ring came off, Selena’s parents became unglued,” a family friend (the kind that talks to tabloids) tells The Enquirer.

“Selena got the ring at 12 and never took it off. But when things started getting hot with Justin, suddenly she was wearing it less and less. Selena’s family thinks the world of Justin and isn’t opposed to them dating. But they’re very conservative people and they’d be heartsick if she did something with him that she’d later regret,” the insider adds.

Interestingly enough, Selena’s mom became pregnant with the doe-eyed Disney actress when she was only 15. Justin’s under similar pressure from his own one-time teen mother. His Christian mother, Pattie, delivered Justin at 18 but famously committed the singing heartthrob to chastity in an interview last year.

“The family has even gone as far as having people in her entourage report back to them when she spends time with Justin. Selena hates being spied on, and that’s pushing her away from her family.”
