Miley Cyrus Marie Claire March 2011: “Smoking Bong Was A Bad Call…”

Miley Cyrus Marie Claire March 2011: “Smoking Bong Was A Bad Call…”: "

Miley Cyrus has something to say about Bong-Gate 2010. In an interview with Marie Claire’s March 2011 issue, the teen star speaks for the first time about that explosive footage of her getting high that made a splash when it surfaced online last November.

“I’m not perfect … I made a mistake … I’m disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans,” the former Hannah Montana actress tells the mag of the viral video, in which she was snapped smoking the legal herb salvia with a gaggle of giggling friends.

Cyrus, 18, notes that for the first time, she’s realized that many of the rules and exceptions applied to other teens are not applicable to her.

“They’re not Miley Cyrus. They’re not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for,” she added.

Last October, Miley’s parents — Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus — split after 17 years of marriage and five kids; including sisters Brandi, 23, and Noah, 10, and brothers Braison, 16, and 21-year-old Trace. The Last Song star admits the bust-up has been tough to cope with.

“Of course anyone is going to be upset when there are troubles in their family. But I have a lot of hope in our family and no matter what happens, we’re gonna stay strong.”

In order to deal with her parents’ split, Miley threw herself into work and was delighted to forge a close bond with her LOL co-star Demi Moore.

“It really felt like Demi was my mom a little bit because we had such great conversations, and I feel like it shows on-screen. I can’t wait for ‘LOL’ to come out. It’s what I’m most proud of.”

LOL, a coming-of-age remake of a French film which follows the story of an out-of-control teen girl who falls in love with her boyfriend’s best friend, opens in theaters April 22.
