Disney has announced that a new short titled “The Ballad Of Nessie” will run in theaters before the upcoming animated movie “Winnie The Pooh” when it arrives in theaters in the US on July 15, 2011. The short is set in Scotland and is the tale of the friendly Loch Ness monster, named Nessie, and how she and her best friend MacQuack the rubber duck came to live in the moor they call home. During the short a greedy land developer named MacFroogle decides to build a mini-golf course on top of Nessie’s home – oh no!
The short is directed by Stevie Wermers-Skelton and Kevin Deters (“Prep & Landing” and the Goffy short “How to Hook Up Your Home Theater”). The short was written by Stevie Wermers-Skelton, Kevin Deters and Regina Conroy and produced by Dorothy McKim and Tamara Boutcher with a score by Michael Giacchino (“Ratatouille” and “Up”). Animation for the short was supervised by Andreas Deja, Mark Henn, Randy Haycock, Dale Baer and Ruben A. Aquino while the short is narrated by Billy Connolly.
