Over the buzz of the blow dryer, we caught up with supermodel Karlie Kloss behind the scenes of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Donning bellbottoms and a pink robe, Kloss was the picture of composure in her styling chair—a calm contrast to the frantic stylists and press running around the huge pink room. The 21-year-old Angel lets us in on her cocktail of choice (mojito!) and her favorite places to frequent in NYC.
You débuted a drastic haircut last year. Are you planning on growing it out?
I am loving the short hair. That’s the thing about a great cut—you don’t have to style it. I find my short hair to be so much easier in the morning. And it’s different for me, I’ve never done this before. Last year at this time was when I first cut it and shocked everyone. I’ve gotten used to it now and I really love it.
Any beauty tips or products you’re loving?
There’s this line that Victoria’s Secret has called So Sexy that smells so good. There’s something about the shampoo and the conditioner. When you’re with a boy, it’s always nice to have your hair smell good! It’s better than perfume. I also love when I’m going out for a night and wearing a short dress, to put a little bit of olive oil on my hands, and put it onto my legs. I just rub it on my skin for a nice sheen. It looks really good and it photographs really nicely.
You’re a New Yorker now, what are your favorite hangout spots?
I recently moved to the West Village, and I love Café Cluny. I always go there on the weekends for brunch. I also love Soul Cycle. Soul Cycle in New York is amazing. I’m there all the time. It’s just a really good fast, high-adrenaline exercise. If you really want to sweat, that’s a good way to just sweat it out.
You recently turned 21, what’s your favorite cocktail?
I love a mojito.
