Cobie Smulders likes to spend her vacations from “How I Met Your Mother” playing second banana to superheroes. She’s already played S.H.I.E.L.D. Special Agent Maria Hill twice, once in “The Avengers” and once in the “Agents of  S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot. Like all those who sign on to the Marvel universe, she could potentially get roped in for a lot more appearances – and she says that’s A-OK.
“They have the choice to use me in anything and I hope that they do, because I will be a part of anything they ask me to be, because I love doing Maria Hill and I love working with superheroes. Who wouldn’t?” she told Hitfix.
She’s got at least one more chance to look disapproving and un-superpowered: She’ll reprise her role as Maria Hill in “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
Smulders may be all about Marvel now, but she wasn’t familiar with the character of Maria Hill when she first auditioned for the movie role. “Not at all, sir. Not at all,” she told Metro. “When I auditioned, too, I auditioned for ‘Female Agent’ because they were very hush-hush about it. And then I went in to do a screen test with Samuel L. Jackson and they were like, ‘for Maria Hill.’ So that’s when I went onto the Web and started looking her up and finding any comic book I could find on her.”
