Since 2012, Swedish retail giant H&M has championed young design talent through its Annual Design award: A €50,000 cash prize for a jury-chosen fashion student, as well as a chance for the winner to present his or her collection at Mercedes-Benz Stockholm Fashion Week. As if this career boost isn't enough on its own, the winning designer has the opportunity to produce key pieces from his or her runway show into a capsule collection to be sold globally at H&M stores and online.
The retailer has just announced that the 2014 Design Award winner, 24-year-old Eddy Anemian, has created a 10-piece collection that will arrive at H&M globally on October 23. Anemian, a student at La Cambre School in Brussels, Belgium, was hand-picked for the prestigious award by a jury of industry bigwigs that included designer Erdem Moralioglu, "Downton Abbey" star (and red carpet mainstay) Michelle Dockery and H&M Creative Advisor Margareta van den Bosch. His designs are meticulously constructed into interesting shapes and textures, and his graphic, floral prints are sure to appeal to the street style set. Anemian's collection for the retailer will range in price from $29.95 to $349.
