Every season, we look to Stella McCartney’s collection in Paris for those pieces that will elevate our every day wardrobes while still being incredibly easy to wear. For spring 2015, there was plenty to love, especially for those women who prioritize comfort and lightness when it comes to their clothing, but still want to look sexy. Wearing lace-up and knotted flat sandals to add to the sense of ease, McCartney’s models walked the runway in roomy jumpsuits, wide-legged pants and culottes, super-soft knit dresses and skirts with asymmetric hems and silky parachute dresses — my favorite being the version modeled by Joan Smalls — that seemed to float down the runway.
The designer introduced some pretty patterns towards the end of the show: One was a soft, pajama-like plaid (which inevitably brings my mind back to McCartney's fall '13 tartan sweater that I still regret not buying), and the other a multicolored, mixed-media print with panels that fluttered as each model walked. Those barely-there closing looks — along with the appearance of cutouts and plunging necklines throughout the collection — further prove that no one can do the sexy-meets-cozy thing quite like McCartney.
