Jennifer Aniston Branches Out on the Red Carpet:

Jennifer Aniston is one of those celebrities that has become pretty reliable on the red carpet: She's one to do the basic Cali-girl cool thing, with beachy waves and simple dresses.

So when she steps out in something a bit more daring, like the Giambattista Valli dress she wore to the premiere of "Cake" on Wednesday night, it's hard not to notice. Between the floral skirt, the scalloped top with both front and back cutouts, and the bow at the neckline, it's a much more complex and frilly look than we're used to from Aniston.

Of course, she's not reinventing the wheel here: She still finishes the look with a pair of simple black Christian Louboutin pumps and a sleek pony. Still, we applaud her for trying something different.
