When it comes the presentations for her in-between seasons, Stella McCartney never settles for anything average. Whether it's croquet with models in a West Village garden or an uptown cocktail hour inside an historical townhouse, they're immersive events that give you a real feel for the vibe of the collection, as well as the designer's inspiration. For pre-fall 2015, McCartney invited editors, buyers and industry friends to the Burden Mansion on the Upper East Side for a cozy evening in — but not without plenty of elegant surprises once they headed upstairs.
Unlike your typical cocktail party, guests mingled with models wearing luxurious (yet relaxed) pieces from the new season, which featured ribbed knit separates, sumptuous (faux!) fur coats and tailored silk eveningwear with metal accents. Playful prints, including a whimsical floral motif, giant embroidered bows and pieces covered head-to-toe in illustrations of wildcats, helped to liven up the collection. The oversized silhouettes allowed the models plenty of freedom to take part in the night's activities, and we looked on as they played a few rousing matches of ping pong, played a round of miniature golf and danced along to a live jazz band.
McCartney also made sure to put her popular accessories on display — including the chain-strap Falabella bag — and fans of the brand will be happy to know that the designer's cult favorite platform creepers are coming back in the new season.
