The Beauty Look at Alexander Wang Was Very Rock n' Roll Vampire

Dismal can be so refreshing sometimes. While so many designers continue to present beauty looks that can be described with words like "natural," "glowing" or "youthful," Alexander Wang again took his girls to the dark side with stringy, damp hair plastered to their foreheads and hollowed-out eyes. And God, did it look good.

We've come to expect certain things from Wang's take on beauty. His recent penchant for bleached brows and slick, wet-looking hair can veer sexy (see: spring 2015) or intimidating (fall 2014), and the results are not always pretty. But this one was, in a kind of gothic, romantic way.

Hairstylist Guido Palau says he was angling for something nocturnal, unconventionally rock and roll, boyish and slightly vampiric. For all of the girls, that meant ample use of Redken's Diamond Oil. Some also got makeovers.

"We dyed four or five girls' hair darker," he said backstage. "Chopped some girls' hair."

Their brows, at least, remained untouched. Lead makeup artist Diane Kendal drew on KISS for inspiration, erring on the pale side for foundation and giving the eyes a shadowy, lived-in quality by applying liner, removing some with a Q-tip and re-emphasizing the lids with grays and browns. (Under-eye bags, by the way, were not the enemy here.)

It really gets you excited for dreary October afternoons, doesn't it?
