After hiring her from The Wall Street Journal in November, Time Inc. has let go Nina Lawrence, publisher of InStyle magazine. Her last day was Monday.
A representative for InStyle confirmed the news and said that the publisher of Departures, Steven DeLuca, will assume her role until a permanent replacement is hired. StyleWatch publisher Stephanie Sladkis will continue to oversee that title, which Lawrence had also overseen since January, when InStyle Editor in Chief Ariel Foxman became editorial director of both fashion magazines (and StyleWatch editor Susan Kaufman was let go).
A representative for InStyle did not comment on why Lawrence was dismissed. AdAge, which originally reported the news, points out that the magazine will pitch to advertisers on Thursday as part of the annual NewFronts, where media companies present their digital projects.
Lawrence was hired to develop new growth opportunities in sales and marketing across all brand platforms. At WSJ, she was vice president of global marketing and advertising sales and before that she was at W for 15 years. Lawrence's predecessor, Karin Tracy, only had the job for two years.
