The U.S. edition of Harper's Bazaar unveiled its May 2015 cover on Wednesday, starring model Anna Ewers in her first American cover shoot. While the 22-year-old German beauty (and Brigitte Bardot/Lara Stone lookalike) is well-recognized in high-fashion circles and overseas, she's not a household name in the U.S., making her an unusual choice for the Hearst magazine's newsstand cover.

To make matters more surprising, Bazaar unveiled its subscriber cover for the same issue on Thursday, and it features none other than The World's Most Talked About Model, Kendall Jenner. In the accompanying editorial, the social media star exclusively wears Chanel Haute Couture, styled by Amanda Harlech and shot by Mr. Chanel, himself, Karl Lagerfeld. We imagine the combination of Jenner's celebrity and the exquisite clothing would do well on newsstands, but perhaps Bazaar is banking that Jenner's promotion on social media will spur her fans to run out and pick up an issue whether she's on the cover or not. When asked about the choices, Laura Brown, executive editor of Harper's Bazaar, wrote that the team wanted to "mix it up" and is "thrilled to support [both of] them."

Head over to Harper's Bazaar for the full spread, and to read Jenner's Q&A with Brown.
