Lily Pulitzer was an American socialite and fashion designer, who began her empire in 1959, while operating her own fruit juice stand. She designed a little cotton shift dress, to hide the juice stains she acquired from working at her juice stand. The iconic designer became a sensation in the 1960's, and was known as the princess of prints, for her colorful, vibrant, and floral shift dresses. Lilly lived in the resort town of Palm Beach, Florida, where she created dresses to suit her needs. Pulitzer believed that colors affected peoples moods, and the more candy-colored and vibrant, the happier people would be. Her signature designs were inspired by her town of Palm Beach and the colors of a Florida vacation. Lilly passed away at the age of 81, in April of 2013. Her legacy continues on with fabulous brightly colored tropical prints and florals that depict an effortless and fun lifestyle.
