Jason Aldean's Music Returns to Spotify:

Jason Aldean is back on Spotify. The country star's sudden reappearance follows a year-long hiatus, during which time his music could not be heard on the popular streaming service.

In November 2014, Aldean was among the first artists to follow Taylor Swift’s lead and withdraw his catalog from Spotify. This was not long after he had set a country-album record by racking up more than three million streams of his then-new album Old Boots, New Dirt in its debut week. But Aldean argued that Spotify was shortchanging musicians, telling Rolling Stone that its business model was "just really not fair to artists, especially new artists."

This past spring, Aldean emerged as the biggest country act among the partners in Jay Z’s artist-owned high-definition Tidal streaming service, alongside Beyoncé, Madonna, Kanye West, Jack White and other megastars. During the initial launch period, Aldean was vocal about Tidal’s relative artist-friendliness compared to Spotify, calling it an attempt "to get [the music business] back on track and in the right direction."

Nevertheless, Aldean's albums were returned to Spotify this week. In a Facebook post, he wrote, "Everyone in the music business is trying to figure out how to make streaming work financially, so that the creative community gets paid fairly. I'm happy to have been part of that dialog and will continue to be as it all unfolds.

"I've heard from you, the fans, all summer on the road and online that you really miss being able to stream my music," he continued. "I definitely want you to be able to find it easily, so we've decided to make it available again."

All six of the Georgia native's albums are available on Spotify. Earlier this week, Aldean performed his current single "Gonna Know We Were Here" on the 49th CMA Awards.
