Joe Jonas In London For The 2011 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards

Joe Jonas In London For The 2011 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards:

Joe Jonas is busy traveling around the world promoting his new album “FastLife,” which arrived in stores and online before October 11, 2011. Soon, Joe will also be on tour with Britney Spears in the UK, so it’s no wonder that he is already there and he was able to attend the 2011 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards.

The awards show was held in Wembley, North London and of course Joe looked as gorgeous as always. It seems that Joe’s fame has only gone up since he and his brothers split up their group The Jonas Brothers. However, while the split worked well for Joe and his younger brother Nick, we haven’t heard a whole lot from the oldest Jonas Brother, Kevin Jonas. However, Kevin is currently filming a reality show with his wife Danielle, so hopefully that will air on TV soon and he’ll be back in the news!

Have you seen Joe in London yet?

Gisele's Suggestive Lingerie Causes Political Uproar

Gisele's Suggestive Lingerie Causes Political Uproar:
Don't use your charm, Brazilian women. No matter what your leading supermodel tells you.

A series of suggestive commercials for her new Hope underwear line cut by Gisele Bundchen have left women in the Brazilian government none too pleased, the Guardian relays, with officials calling for the ads to be pulled off the air.

Their gripe? The spots suggest that the Victoria's Secret Angel and money-printing model is causing all sorts of trouble, from crashing cars to spending gobs of cash, and then -- clad in Hope's underwear -- is coming onto her husband in an effort to get him to forget about the transgressions.

"You're a Brazilian woman – use your charm," a voiceover says, presumably urging other Brazilian women to cause major damage and then wear their underwear to patch it all up. Not a message the aforementioned legislators think needs to be sent to a country that, less than a year ago, elected its first female president.

"The campaign promotes the misguided stereotype of a woman as a sexual object of her husband and ignores the major advances we have achieved in deconstructing sexist practices and thinking," a statement put out by officials read.

That the line is causing controversy is impressive; it was only launched last week. "Life is made of dreams and I'm very happy to announce that now you will know the Brazilian intimate. My dream come true is for Hope," Bündchen said in a statement that probably made a lot more sense in Portugese.

One possible theory: perhaps those upset with the ads are just taking out their frustration about Bündchen's husband Tom Brady losing his long, flowing mane?

PHOTOS: Dita Hits Paris Fashion Week:
Just days after her 39th birthday,

Dita Von Teese took in a show at Paris Fashion Week.

The burlesque star sat front row at the Alexis Mabille presentation on Sunday, held at Les Serres d’Auteuil in Paris.

Wearing her classic black and white with black accessories, Von Teese arrived with her beau Louis-Marie de Castelbajac.

He's the son of designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and a rather clean-cut gentleman (something only worth noting in comparison to Dita's former boyfriend, Marilyn Manson).

During the show Dita sat with ballerina Marie-Agnes Gillot, dutifully tweeting the experience.

Check out pics of Dita's chic Parisian ensemble! What do you think of this dramatic star's look?

Rihanna Goes Blonde For Britain

PHOTO: Rihanna Goes Blonde For Britain:
Rihanna may have been a bit bummed when the debut of her Armani Jeans ads got drowned out by Fashion's Night Out and the start of Fashion Week.

But the celeb gets a second chance to steal the fashion world's attention in yet another blonde wig on the cover of Vogue UK's November issue.

Riri spilled the news that she'd bagged the British Vogue gig back in July when she tweeted about the magazine.

Now the cover has hit and not only is she back in blonde, she's also back in Armani, donning one of the designer's Asian-inspired looks from the Fall 2011 couture collection (look 12, for those keeping track).

Not only are we loving the dramatically cut dress, but we think the hair 'do, with the giant curls and bright blonde hue, looks pretty darn amazing (much better than the shaggy bowl cut from the Armani Jeans ads).

What do you think of the new cover?

PHOTOS: Models Who Were Bullied (And Got The Last Laugh)

PHOTOS: Models Who Were Bullied (And Got The Last Laugh):

Post-success, numerous models have revealed that before they were glamorous models, they played the role of the "ugly duckling" (you know, prior to turning into the beautiful swans we know them as today).

Although it's hard to believe, many claim to have been bullied for being tall, skinny or lanky or for having distinctive features -- the features, ironically, that propelled them to fame (think Lindsey Wixson's gap-tooth grin).

Lara Stone is just the most recent model to reveal she didn't (and still doesn't) get the best reviews about her looks. The Danish supermodel revealed in her recent GQ spread that she's been called ugly by people on the evil Internet--

"It hurts when you're having a tough day and someone says, 'She's so f**king ugly I wouldn't let my dog near her.' " Nobody said that! "Yes, they have," she insists. "And 500 people 'liked' it!"

Fortunately, we're pretty sure the Calvin Klein model, famous for her gap-toothed smile and flawless figure, has gotten the last laugh.

Check out the gorgeous models who've left their childhood bullies far behind.

Scarlett Johansson On Her Beauty Routine, Vegan Baking And On-Screen Romance With Penelope Cruz

Scarlett Johansson On Her Beauty Routine, Vegan Baking And On-Screen Romance With Penelope Cruz:

Photo: Getty

The first time I saw Scarlett Johansson in person she was literally being mobbed by photographers at the Dolce & Gabbana spring show. I sat in my seat and watched the spectacle from afar: An explosion of light bulbs, each photographer screaming her name louder than the next. It was startling, at best.

The next time I spotted the actress, it was at the Dolce & Gabbana offices later that afternoon -- she had just returned from the show. We were meeting to discuss her current role as the face of Dolce & Gabbana Beauty. This was the Scarlett you see in the magazines, on the red carpet: cat-eye liner, red lips, '40s era hair, an insanely chic (and very tight-fitting) dress, glittery heels. In other words: incredibly stunning. I was feeling more than a little glamorized. And slightly intimidated. That is until she introduced herself and immediately asked me what I thought of the show.

Johansson describes her partnership with the fashion house as a perfect fit. "I felt like the aesthetic was something that I really appreciated, very feminine," says Johansson. And she couldn't feel more comfortable working with the designers, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce -- who she calls "the boys." "They're very down-to-earth actually," says the actress. After she revealed her '90s makeup mishaps (blue lipstick, lots of glitter) and the fact that she obsessed with baking vegan cupcakes, I was starting to feel the same way about Johansson.

The next day this sentiment was even more apparent: Sitting in the Milan airport, killing time before my flight back to New York, I was eating a sort of sad salad (the only non-bread option I could find at 11am). Jet-lagged and half-asleep, I looked over at the table next to me, and there was Scarlett by herself, eating the same salad, hair tied back, wearing glasses, a hat, clogs, looking totally anonymous. And seemingly without makeup, she was just as gorgeous as the day before.

--

So what did you think of the show?

It was great, I love that kind of early '60s sort of playsuits and all those great '50s cut dresses. You know, the big collar of the shirts. It was really a great show; I was really excited about it. And I love the lace and the jewels, I'm like a magpie -- anything that's glittery, I want it. All the girls in the front row were salivating. They are like, "Ahh, it's so sparkly, I want it."

What's your daily beauty routine?

I have sensitive skin, so I use actually just Cetaphil face wash and Clarins moisturizer. And as far as makeup -- I don't wear a lot of makeup during the day. I mean, day-to-day I'll use concealer, blush, eyeliner, mascara, but right now I'm wearing Dolce&Gabbana Gloss Fusion Lipstick in in Infatuation. I like the consistency of these because they have a conditioner in them. I have it on now. And the shade Poetic, too. Combined, a little combo action. But yeah, day-to-day, I wear mostly natural makeup.

What's the one beauty product you always have in your bag?

Before Dolce&Gabanna did their creamy foundation, they used to have a powdered foundation. It's good because it's concealing, but it's not like you're wearing a full face of makeup. So I carry that with me and that's it really. I don't really carry a lot of makeup in my bag.

Is there a person, place or memory that inspires you beauty-wise?

If I'm doing a red carpet, I'll usually look to the golden age of Hollywood a little bit, whether that's Rita Hayworth or Lauren Bacall or later, like Brigitte Bardot. I like to kind of give a nod to that era; I feel like the red carpet deserves it.

And are there tips that you learned from your mother growing up for beauty or skincare?

My mom would always say, "Drink a lot of water and get a lot of sleep and don't smoke." So I follow some of those rules. And growing up, my mom always wore a lot of makeup. My mom was very glamorous. I used to sit at her vanity and use her makeup -- I know a lot of moms, they don't really like their daughters to wear a lot of makeup. My mom was always very encouraging, she used to take me shopping so I learned a lot of about makeup application from her actually.

How old were you when you first started wearing makeup?

Probably around 13 or something.

Do you remember the first product that you bought?

Well at that time blue lipstick was very popular and lots of glitter. It was the '90s and I had a lot of blue lipstick, glittery nail polish, glitter eyeliner -- I was like a disco ball. You remember that time.

Of all the characters you've played, which beauty look did you get into the most?

Probably "Black Dahlia." It takes place in '48, I think it is. And it's just a great period, the clothes were absolutely gorgeous and makeup is really classic -- red lipstick with the little flick of eyeliner. And I had really white hair at the time. It was uber glamorous.

What did it feel like to become the first face of Dolce&Gabbana beauty?

I've worn their clothes since I had the curves to fill them out, probably [since I was] 16. To me, it was just kind of a perfect fit. I felt like the aesthetic was something that I really appreciated, very feminine. You know, a celebration of femininity, voluptuous figure and curves and kind of this independent woman. And the boys love that: they're always saying [they love] Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci, and all these very strong women that have devil-may-care attitudes.

What's it like hanging out with Stefano and Domenico?

They're great, they're so much fun. And they're so different, too -- Domenico's much more serious and shy and Stefano's so outgoing and crazy. Which is funny because the brand is so luxurious and glam and everything. Actually, to meet these guys who are very humble and came from very humble beginnings, it's really interesting to talk to them. They've got an amazing story. [On-set] we collaborate on the looks. The first season was a little bit removed, it was kind of the movie starlet, glamorous, slightly kind of vacant look that was very chic. This season, we did a much more sort of at home, intimate, more playing with the camera, more relatable girl. And so we kind of come up with those ideas between us. They're very hands-on, we shoot the campaign and we end up waiting for hours because it's like, "Okay, have they seen the looks yet? Do they like them? Do they like the direction?" Their presence is very much there.

And what's it like working with makeup artist Pat McGrath?

I love her, have you met her? She is so hysterical, oh my God, she kills me. She's so funny; it takes us hours to get ready because she just has so many stories. I tell her stories to other people -- she's just full of laughs, life and enthusiasm. She's so great and so talented.

What tips have you learned from her on-set?

I've noticed that she's all about balance, there's never too much. She's always accenting one feature...we did the Mediterranean eye which is lots of blues and really smokey. It's always with a pale lip and a pale cheek and for her, it's all about balance. Her looks are never garish, it's always chic because it's always a play on one feature.

What's one thing people don't know about you?

Don't know about me? Oh God, what don't people know about me these days? I like to cook, major baker. Yeah, this past summer I got into vegan baking so I was baking up a storm -- breads, cakes, muffins. I love to bake.

What are you reading right now?

Right now, I am reading two things actually. I'm reading "A Moveable Feast" and I'm also reading a collection of Herman Hesse's short stories.

Not to blow up your spot, but what's your favorite under-the-radar place in New York?

My favorite under-the-radar spot is probably, I would say, Babycakes Bakery after midnight. They're not open, but I actually recently met the night-shift baker, so you might find me in Babycakes Bakery eating gluten-free cupcakes at 3 am.

Whose acting career do you really admire?

Probably Philip Seymour Hoffman. He's had an incredible career and he's been able to do theater and do film and sort of transition into each character effortlessly. If I could have anybody's career, it'd be his probably.

Who's been your favorite on-screen romance?

Penelope was pretty great, I have to say. She's full of passion and life, and she doesn’t have stubble so that's a plus. I've had a lot of really great on-screen romances, but Hugh Jackman was wonderful. They call him the mayor of Hollywood, he's so old-school and kind of reminds me of, I don't know -- he's got that Cary Grant quality. He can sort of do anything. I don't know, I might just say Penelope just because the lack of stubble.

Is there someone you really look forward to working with someday?

I've always wanted to work with Tim Burton, I love the world he creates and I hope that I can work with him someday. It'd be my dream come true.

PHOTOS: Cover Face-Off:

Kristen Stewart had quite the busy month it seems. The "Twilight" star covers November issues of both British GQ and Glamour, showing off two totally opposite sides.

The 21-year old shows off her sexy and sultry side while channeling a pinup girl in the men's mag. Stewart vamps it up in a black bikini, sporting dark red lips and a side swept 'do while lounging poolside.

In the interview the actress tells GQ, "I looked like a boy for a long time. Now I feel like a woman." We think it's safe to say that with this spread, no one will be questioning her the existence of her womanly side.

Meanwhile on the cover of Glamour, Kristen is cute and casual as she poses in jeans and shows off her laid-back style. Looking fresh-faced and natural, Kristen looks stunning in flawless makeup and an effortless, girl-next door get-up.

Which Kristen do you prefer?

What's the hottest new celeb accessory? Daytime lingerie. Gwen Stefani seems to be taking a cue from Jennifer Aniston, who recently sported a tight white shirt and dark bra. Similarly, Stefani showed off her unmentionables, sporting a white lacy bra under a loose fitting white button down shirt.

When it comes to Stefani's daytime sexy look, love it or leave it?

Vicky Tiel: Le Peregrina Pearl

Vicky Tiel: Le Peregrina Pearl:

2011-10-04-LaPeregrinaPearl.jpg

Elizabeth Taylor's infamously outrageous jewelry collection is up for sale on December 13th at Christie's in New York and I'm wondering what new queen will end up with her wandering (the translation of the word Le Peregrina) pearl. The pearl, favored by queens, even by the Queen of Hollywood, was discovered in Panama by an African slave diver around 1550 and, like its last movie star mistress, this pearl had a Big Time reputation. Unfortunately, it was for getting lost, sometimes for a lifetime.

The Peregrina was always worn by queens and lost by queens, once lost in a couch in Windsor Castle. The Spanish master, Diego Velazquez, in the mid 1600s painted Queen Isabel wearing the pearl, and he also painted young sweet Mary, Queen of England wearing the pearl before she became Bloody Mary and had her namesake niece, Mary Queen of Scots, beheaded.

The story of Elizabeth Taylor losing the Peregrina Pearl in the recent book on loving her jewels is false. The writer was not there in the room, as I was. I am still here to tell the tale as I do in my book, It's All About The Dress, about all the adventures in my unusual life, having been thrown into the crazy world of fashion and Hollywood at only twenty.

We were holed up in the lavish red and white Valentine Suite in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas while shooting The Only Game in Town. Elizabeth was co-starring with Warren "Beauty" (her nickname for him) Beatty, and her husband Richard Burton was more than a little bit interested in his male counterpart, the only other actor to score more leading ladies than him. February14th was approaching and Richard had to prove his love with a jewel.

As I learned from Elizabeth, Lesson One in romance is teaching your man to show his love with a jewel -- be it your anniversary, birthday, Christmas or, in this case, Valentine's Day. One of Elizabeth's favorite indoor games was thinking of ways she could charm men into buying her jewels -- whether her husband or the current movie producer for the typical end of movie gift. Her love of jewels stemmed from Mike Todd, who gave her priceless jewels, including a complete set of rubies and diamonds, as well as a large engagement ring.

Mike Todd was larger than life. My ex-father-in-law Bunny Berkeley told me that he was once asked to decorate Todd's office at MGM during the 1950s. Todd was filming Around the World in 80 Daysand he asked Bunny to decorate his office to look "substantial." He said he wanted to spend $60,000, which was quite a lot of money to spend on art antiques and rugs, especially in the 1950s. Try as he might, Bunny only managed to spend $40,000. When Todd saw the office, he told Bunny he loved it. But when the bill arrived he became furious and yelled at Bunny, "I told you to spend $60,000, not $40,000! And God dammit, now go out and spend $60,000 or you are fired!"

With that kind of legacy, Richard did not want to be outdone by a previous husband. He went out and bought his beloved wife an emerald set and now he was buying her the Peregrina pearl. It was being brought to Vegas by Ward Landrigan from Sotheby's. Ward visited Elizabeth once a year, trying to entice her with various large gems, saying she could keep them for a day to try them out. This time he brought La Peregrina with a very large art book showing the pearl around the head of La Infanta of Spain.

Which brings us to Lesson Two: do not try out priceless jewels. We were in the Valentine Suite in our pajamas. The walls were hot pink, the carpet was four inches of white shag, and Elizabeth's little white Pekinese dog, Ofie, looked like part of the decor. The couches were red velvet and the furniture was gold. Upstairs a hot pink staircase curved up to the master bedroom where Richard lay fast asleep in a red, heart-shaped water bed -- dead to the world. His plan was to present the royal gem to Elizabeth the next day, Valentine's Day. However, Elizabeth managed to charm Uncle Ward and he agreed to leave the pearl in the suite so she could relish it with her girlfriends. He retired, with plans to return early the next morning and hand the pearl over to Richard.

Elizabeth had called the girls in for a pajama party, including her hairdresser, Claude Bozacchi, and myself. The three of us took turns trying on the pearl, which sat alone in a black velvet box. We each put it on our forehead, in our hair, on our pajamas, and then we put it back in the box. At one point we ordered room service and three rolling trays arrived with fried chicken and champagne when we heard Elizabeth's blood curdling scream, "Oh my God... !!!"

The Peregrina Pearl was gone! Luckily, Richard was sound asleep upstairs and did not wake up. At first we thought the room service waitress had stolen the pearl, but the hostess had never been to the back part of the immense suite where we sat on the red couches overlooking the wall-to-wall glass view of the sparkling city. The black velvet box on the coffee table was empty. We looked at each other with declared innocence and promised it was no joke.

Down on our hands and knees, from midnight to dawn, we went through every inch of the white shag carpet until we were dead from exhaustion. With a little help from the champagne we all three fell asleep, myself on the floor. Richard got up first at 6 AM to make coffee and write in his diary. After coffee he planned to call Ward to come over with the pearl. We heard him get up as we pretended to still be asleep. How to tell him? Who would be brave enough and who would take the fall?

With the three of us lying around, Richard walked into the room and went to the kitchen for his coffee and came right out again. I opened one eye, and watched him wake up Elizabeth and hand her the pearl. "Here," he said. "I found your dog in his bed chewing on this!"

After three hundred years of Infantas and queens wearing the worlds most famous pearl, a little white dog's tooth marks could possibly be there if you are lucky enough to get up close, a reminder of a different kind of queen.

Richard Burton was quoted as buying the Peregrina pearl because it was owned by a Welchman, but it was really owned by a Scot. As a fun twist of fate, when my Florida fishing boat captain husband Big Mike traced his Scotch Hamilton ancestry back to James Hamilton, his great-great uncle, he found the current James Hamilton, the Duke of Abercorn, had sold the Peregrina pearl his family had bought in the 1880s from Charles Louis Bonaparte for his wife Louise Hamilton, Duchess of Albecorn. The Duchess was the one who later lost the pearl at Windsor Castle, it found its way to Sotheby's in 1969, and it was then sold it to Burton for only $37,000, proving that it is indeed a small world.

VICKY TIEL began designing clothes forty years ago in Paris and still owns a boutique there. PHOTOS: Katy Perry Plays Snow White:

Katy Perry changes up her hair so often (blue! pink!) we find it hard to keep up.

So it makes sense that the pop star is the face of hair styling brand ghd, purveyor of straightening irons, curling irons and other hair products.

Perry's latest shoot for the company's Scarlet Collection -- her first came back in April -- debuted with Perry playing the part of Snow White and the apple-bearing Evil Queen (although the latter look more like Dita Von Teese than the craggy old villain we remember from the Disney movie).

Shot by David LaChapelle, the pics are quintessentially Katy, with all the sass and dramatic makeup you'd expect from the star.

While we hadn't heard of ghd before, they've definitely landed on our radar with these fun ads. What do you think?

Mary Hall: The Return of the Native: Norma Kamali at New York Fashion Week Spring 2012

Mary Hall: The Return of the Native: Norma Kamali at New York Fashion Week Spring 2012:

One of the highlights of New York Fashion Week for me this year was seeing designer Norma Kamali participate on day seven by showing her spring collection. In the past, Ms. Kamali has done more quiet events during fashion week, including a show at the Apple show and a show featuring QR codes at her own store.

Ms. Kamali was one of the first designers to effectively develop an online presence to connect directly with consumers, rather than with buyers and press, who for years were the primary attendees of New York Fashion Week. Perhaps her innovative use of technology over the years partially explains her reticence to put on a full, live runway show.

However, as a great admirer of her clothes, and an owner of more than a few of them, I always want to see the designer out front and center. Last year she revealed her philosophy on why she was not showing at New York Fashion Week: "I'm a background kind of person," said Kamali. "I'm better kind of not being noticed.... I want to do what I want to do, so I've never had partners, never had investors. For me to do it, I have to find a way to do it my way."

This year, the iconic designer found her way to New York Fashion Week after a long absence. She presented her Spring 2012 collection in the form of a movie at the David Rubenstein Atrium near Lincoln Center. The movie was set to the tune of Imelda Day's "All For You." Ms. Kamali presented the movie in 3D repleat with the audience wearing 3D glasses so they could best view the presentation.

Her collection was playful, part 1920s flapper and part Marilyn Monroe as we remember her in the halter dress from The Seven Year Itch. There was everything from gold lame, to simple black and white to polka dots. Following the presentation, I had the chance to ask the designer a few questions about her return to Fashion Week and her Walmart collections.

Q1: I was glad to see you participate in NYFW this year! What made you decide to put on a show there when in the past you have done other things off-site?

NK: I felt it was the right time to connect with more people outside of my showroom. 3D is a big innovation for us, especially the shopping pages and I wanted to show this to as many people as possible.

Q2: You're always so innovative in your use of technology. This year you are using 3D, what made you use 3D for your show and website?

NK: Fashion and technology go hand in hand beautifully. I was inspired by the documentary Cave of Forgotten Dreams. Once I saw the textures and colors of the clothing, I knew I had to use this to show my spring collection. What I really love about the website concept is that it brings 3D fashion into everyone's home.

Q3: What is NK Spring 2012 all about? I see everything from 1920s style fringe dresses to a Marilyn Monroe type gold lame look. What is your inspiration for the collection?

NK: My collection is meant to be happy, colorful and appeal to women who enjoy being women, being sensual while at the same time remaining empowered. I love when a woman is totally confident with how she looks and presents herself with disarming sensuality. I was inspired by my friend Jack Feldstein's neon animated work Dance Girls, and at the same time wanted to convey my own idea of a dance hall girl.

Q4: Will you continue to work with Walmart? Can you let us know, please? I see stock at Walmart.com, but it's hard to find the line in stores sometimes.

NK: We recently finished our contract with Walmart, which was such a terrific experience for us. As for the future, we are working on new opportunities everyday! STAY TUNED...

Q5: Tell us about the 3D contest game that you are running online now? What is that all about?

NK: We wanted to make the film even more interactive and playful so users have a chance to choose six items that do not belong in the film. We filmed a few items throughout our 3D fashion film -- so you should definitely watch it again to figure it out! You can win a prize!

I like the hook of the contest and the prize to lure the viewer in to closely observe the fashion show. Ms. Kamali has always been something of a marketing genius, using technology to enhance the fashion experience along with incentives to bring the consumer into the notion of fashion as an entertainment.

She clearly sees the opportunity to use the art of gaming to engage customers. To see her 3D fashion show, watch the video here:

Malcolm Harris: Madonna's W.E. Reignites a Love Affair With Heritage Luxury Brands

Malcolm Harris: Madonna's W.E. Reignites a Love Affair With Heritage Luxury Brands:

2011-10-05-madonnawallis.jpg

Madonna's sophomore directorial offering, W.E., might not have Hollywood in a complete frenzy, but it most definitely has the fashion world clamoring and bracing itself for a revival of classic and elegant heritage luxury brands such as Vionnet and MAINBOCHER.

A dear friend and fashion editor recently returned from an extended trip to Europe where she had the opportunity to see Madonna's film W.E., based on the love affair of Wallis Simpson and Prince Edward VIII at the Venice Film Festival (U.S. release Dec. 9, 2011). I had been waiting with baited breath for her personal review, but she got sidetracked with her return by Milan and Paris fashion weeks. But she too, could not wait to inform me in her thick Italian accent, "Madonna's film is a visual and stylistic masterpiece, darrrrllllling." She described in great detail every pin-tuck, corset, pencil skirt and shade of Wallis blue she witnessed dance across the screen. When I interrupted to ask, "But how was the film?" She quickly fanned the question away, and went straight back into her rant of "deep red lips, Vionnet, elegance, a return, pleated bodices, and Mainbocher."

As a designer, from the second I heard Madonna was interested in making a film about Wallis Simpson, I knew she would spend a great deal of time making sure the fashion in the film was an integral part of her storytelling. And sure enough, by all accounts, from festivals in Venice to Toronto -- everyone agrees -- the movie will definitely herald a turning point in the direction of fashion and it's relationship with film.

From the newly released trailer to the production photos, one can see Madonna and her long time style collaborator, Arianne Phillips, have paid close attention to the strict and rigid, yet romantic style of Wallis Simpson. Madonna's Wallis Simpson somehow seems much softer and fluid from the morsels of information I have been able to gather. By all accounts, there is something endearing about the tragically flawed and vulnerable Wallis Simpson played by actress Andrea Riseborough and directed by Madonna. There is something extremely unique about capturing these qualities in a single character, a uniqueness I think will be of great credit to Ms. Ciccone's vision as a director and also Ms. Phillip's creativity as a costume designer.

I am also informed that Mrs. Simpson's plutonic love affair with the American born designer, Mainbocher, is definitely present in every frame. I don't think there has ever been a greater love story between designer and muse outside that of Audrey Hepburn and Givenchy. But I believe what separates the Mainbocher and Wallis Simpson love affair is that their union is rooted deeply in American sportswear and sensibility.

Whenever a story is told about the Duke and Duchess of Windsor or their sensationalized love affair, it is virtually impossible to separate them from their iconic wedding photo. Wallis Simpson dressed in the most elegant Mainbocher wedding gown, standing proudly next to the man that had just abdicated the throne of England to spend the rest of his life with the woman he loves. It's enough to make Mister GoLightly weep from the very thought of it -- L'amour, L'amour, L'amour...

Madonna wearing "Vionnet" on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival.

However, in Madonna's version of events the recently relaunched house of Vionnet plays a much larger role in the film. The fashion was such a huge part of the film that Harvey Nichols in London recently held an in-house installation of recreated archival pieces by the famed French designer, Madeline Vionnet. In a recent interview with British Vogue, Vionnet's current president, Matteo Marzotto said, "The film W.E. gave Vionnet such a wonderful opportunity to showcase the exquisite craftsmanship and skill of the house. We were thrilled to be considered for the project and it was so exciting to be part of such a lavish production that portrayed one of history's most intriguing women."

With all the renewed interest in these classic heritage brands and the successful relaunch of Vionnet (currently sold in over 200 stores worldwide), it is no wonder the fashion rumor mill is churning about the revitalizing of the ultimate style sleeping beauty -- MAINBOCHER. With all the amazing talent floating around these days one must wonder who they will put at the helm of this classic and prestigious brand (wink-wink). Who knows, maybe if Madonna continues her love affair -- borderline obsession -- with Wallis Simpson and Mainbocher, we could see her funding or even co-designing the collection? We must remember that one of Madonna's most iconic fashion moments was her recreation of the Mainbocher Corset with famed photographer, Horst. Who knows anything in this crazy world of fashion these days? But thanks to the Material Girl there is one thing we know for sure -- the world is about to get a lot more elegant, sophisticated and yes -- very, very romantic.

Model Pregnant At 19

Model Pregnant At 19:
Rose Cordero is pregnant!

The news about the 19-year-old model comes via Facebook, where a picture was posted of friends surrounding her on a beach and kissing her bared tummy.

Based on recent fashion photos alone, though, you wouldn't know Rose is with child. Dominican Republic-born Cordero most recently appeared in a sexy shoot for Marie Claire Italy's October issue posing in several belly-baring looks.

On online threads where the news spread, fashion fans have compared Cordero to fellow model Jourdan Dunn, another rising black model who got pregnant at age 19.

One difference, some commentators have noted, is that Dunn's profile was already quite high when she had her baby -- she even made a memorable runway appearance while seven months pregnant at Jean Paul Gaultier in 2009.

Cordero's biggest achievement to date has been becoming the first solo black model to grace the cover of French Vogue since 2002 (see the pic below).

But Dunn's success (plus the success of Miranda Kerr, Gisele Bundchen, etc) has proved that having a baby doesn't mean the end of one's modeling days.

Congrats to the young mom-to-be!

WATCH: Vintage Kate Moss Audition Tapes

WATCH: Vintage Kate Moss Audition Tapes:

There's no shortage of fantastic vintage videos just waiting to be dug up on Youtube (Exhibit A: royal babies). But while some videos lay dormant for months, some magically pop up on the righthand side of our screen and totally make our day.

Today, the vintage video making us smile are these old school audition tapes from around 1996, in which a very young, very bare-faced Kate Moss tosses her hair for L'Oreal.

The woman holding the camera tells her to state her name and asks if she currently has any hair ad campaigns in the US -- no, not yet.

But by the way Kate deftly flips her hair, bats her lashes and makes eyes at the camera, you can tell she's going to land one very, very soon.

WATCH the two audition tapes... and the 1996 commercial they likely landed her:

PHOTO: Pippa Sports Wild New Bag:

Yes, she's a world traveler, the life of the party and the target of every Anglo photographer's lens, but there's more to Pippa Middleton the woman than just Pippa Middleton the brand. And to that point, like the rest of us, she actually has to work for a living.

That being said, there's no rule against looking good while doing so.

The un-Duchess Middleton stepped out on Friday, headed to the office with a cup of joe -- um, do they call it joe across the pond? -- in hand. She's been an office regular since her summer of fun, stepping out with all sorts of black leather bags (see: Exhibit A, Exhibit B and hey, Exhibit C), but this time, her bag was marked with the legal print of a leopard.

As for her ensemble? A sports coat and a Markus Lupfer dress did the Pipster just right. And certainly much different from her dress earlier this week at the Boxing Ball!

Rihanna Goes Country For New Music Video

Rihanna Goes Country For New Music Video:

She's gone country -- sort of.

Rihanna was spotted shooting a new music video in County Down, Northern Ireland early Monday, and the R&B singer looks like she's traded in her infamous short shorts for some dungarees and flannel shirts.

But 23-year-old star still managed to show off some of her assets. RiRi was revealing her toned tummy in a red bandana bra while the matching bottoms were peeking out of her denim pants. Her long curly locks and flannel button down shirt were waving in the wind as she put on a show for the cameras.

Check out the photos of the songstress on set below!
