Never one to mince words, the “Rocket Man” offered some harsh commentary on the perils of modern-day pop culture in an interview with the new issue of Rolling Stone Magazine.

“The records I love are all about musicianship…when you put a bunch of musicians in a room together there’s human soul, there’s magic in there. That’s not happening now,” Elton retorted. “Frankly, they all sound the same. ‘It’s hard to tell Girls Aloud from The Saturdays. And then there’s Cheryl Cole… it’s all crap. British pop music like that is the worst, it’s just awful, it could have been made by anybody.”

The “Candle in the Wind then added: “Who the fuck is Kim Kardashian? Some stupid old tart from somewhere. Reality has killed talent…”

The hours after Sunday’s Super Bowl sent a ripple through the online publishing world as news leaked that the ink is dry on a deal between Arianna Huffington and AOL Inc. Huffington has sold her left-leaning Huffington Post blog/Internet newspaper to the struggling search giant for $315 million in cash.

The deal, which both parties announced Sunday evening, will move the co-founder of the HuffPost to the position of president and editor-in-chief of a new Huffington Post Media Group division at AOL, Reuters reports.

The purchase will increase AOL’s news portfolio as it competes against Yahoo’s growing online news publication profile and Google’s news efforts, as well as traditional media companies online, The Los Angeles Times adds. Additionally, AOL other news websites will now fall under Huffington’s control as well.

“By combining HuffPost with AOL’s network of sites, thriving video initiative, local focus, and international reach, we know we’ll be creating a company that can have an enormous impact, reaching a global audience on every imaginable platform,” Huffington wrote in a blog posting announcing the merger Sunday evening.

“Far from changing our editorial approach, our culture, or our mission, this moment will be for HuffPost like stepping off a fast-moving train and onto a supersonic jet. We’re still traveling toward the same destination, with the same people at the wheel, and with the same goals, but we’re now going to get there much, much faster.”

The merger is expected to go into affect later this year.

The Huffington Post debuted in 2005 and has grown into one of the most visited news websites in the nation.

Justin will host this year’s event by reading his favorite childhood book, Dr. Seuss’s 1957 classic, The Cat in the Hat. The read-along will feature Bieber reading along with activities, a chance to win prizes and tips on how to raise a reader.

“The Bieber fever is in full effect with the BOOK IT! program this year,” says Leslie Brunt, director of the BOOK IT! Program. “The combination of Justin Bieber with a Seuss classic is sure to make this our largest and most successful event yet!”

This isn’t the first time Dita’s famed form has gotten the sultry star into a sticky situation with censorship officials. Earlier this year, executives at CBS asked the dancer to keep her ample bosom covered during a guest appearance on the network’s forensic crime drama, CSI.

A planned Super Bowl benefit concert by Prince and Erykah Badu was canceled last night in Dallas, with frustrated fans wondering what prompted organizers to halt the pricey event. Tickets to 'TheEvent' fundraiser -- organized by The Goss-Michael Foundation, an arts group founded by George Michael and his longtime partner, Kenny Goss -- were selling for up to $1,500 before the cancellation, the Associated Press reports. Organizers of the ill-fated event said the ticket costs would be refunded. There was confusion on Friday when the concert was first switched to a different venue, then an announcement came the event was canceled, only to be followed by another announcement that the benefit was back on. No other information was given until Friday night when guests arriving at the event were told the concert was not happening after all. A source close to Prince told AP that organizers never arranged for transportation for him and his band. 'Prince is extremely disappointed that the organizers, the Meridian Entertainment Group and the River Alexander Group ... were unable bring him and his band to Dallas,' the source said.

There are new developments in the case of Lindsay Lohan & The Mysteriously Envaporating Necklace…(Wouldn’t that have made a great title for a Nancy Drew novel?!)

TMZ.com tattles say the scandal-starred starlet will face one felony count of grand theft in the case of a stolen $2,500 necklace that the actress was videotaped and photograped wearing days after she allegedly lifted the bauble from an upscale Venice jewelry shop.

Kamofi & Co., a Venice custom jewelry store, reported the necklace stolen on Jan. 22, roughly three weeks after the actress was released from three months of court-ordered rehab at the Betty Ford Center. Though Lohan insists store owners lent the item to her, shopkeepers deny that claim. Last week, cops in Venice obtained a search warrant Tuesday to try to retrieve the necklace from Lohan’s house, but the item was turned in to detectives by one of Lohan’s associates before the warrant could be executed.

The gossip site wrote Saturday: “The D.A.’s office just issued a statement to an L.A. wire service that no decision has been made. TMZ reiterates — Lindsay Lohan will be charged with felony grand theft…”

Lohan’s long-suffering attorney — Hollywood ambulance chaser-to-the-stars Shawn Chapman Holley — says her client did not steal the necklace and has vowed to fight any charges if they are filed.

“We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press,” Holley said in a statement this afternoon.

The case is just latest legal saga for La Lohan, who has struggled to comply with the terms of her probation in a 2007 DUI case. She was twice jailed last summer for violating the terms of that probation and Beverly Hills judge Elden Fox has threatened to sentence her to up to six months in jail if she continues to get into trouble.

The “Mean Girl” is due in court on Feb. 25 for a probation status hearing.

And she then reported that childbirth didn't hurt one bit.

She then ruffled some feathers in August by saying that breastfeeding should be law. She told Harper's Bazaar UK, 'Some people here [in the U.S.] think they don't have to breastfeed, and I think 'Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?'...I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.'

She then took to her blog to write:

My intention in making a comment about the importance of breastfeeding has nothing to do with the law. It comes from my passion and beliefs about children. Becoming a new mom has brought a lot of questions, I feel like I am in a constant search for answers on what might be the best for my child.
